Is an excellent contact hitter who boasts switch-hitting ability, doubles power and an occasional home-run stroke. Doesn't strike out a lot. Can also play several positions.
Flaws: : Doesn't use his speed enough on the base-paths to distract opposing pitchers, and generally lacks base-stealing acumen at the big-league level. Can be fragile in terms of injuries.
Callaspo has appeared in 83 games for the Athletics this season hitting .234 with 29 runs, three home runs and 31 RBI. If CAllaspo is activated he would rejoin the Athletics as they end their series against Texas. Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Callaspo was placed on the DL back on July 12th making his earliest return around July 27th but with word that he will likely need a short minor league rehab assignment it is likely he will be activated after he is eligible to return. Callaspo is eligible to come off the DL in a week, but could be delayed given the late start on baseball work. The team will wait to see how he performs over the next few days to also determine if a minor league rehab stint is necessary or if he can simply be activated immediately..
