Latest Update J.J. Hardy appears to be heating up Sun Jul, 20, 03:39 AM
An intense player, he has good power and run-producing qualities from the shortstop position. In the field, he boasts a very strong arm and sound instincts for the position.
Flaws: : Strikes out too much and is also prone to nasty hitting slumps that hurt his overall value at the dish. Is also somewhat injury-prone. Isn't much of a base-stealer.
Hardy, who until recently, had the longest drought between home runs now has two over his last seven games. Hardy is riding a three-game hit streak into Sunday's series finale against the A's where he is hitting .444 (4-for-9) over that span.Analyst: Michael Pichan
All it took was that first home run in late-June to get things started and now Hardy has hit safely in 15 of his last 19 games and is now batting .289 on the year with three home runs, 26 RBI and 30 runs scored on the year. The power numbers aren't where they're supposed to be, but given the incredibly slow start to the year, we'll take the late power display where we can get it and appreciate the improved average and on-base work.Analyst: Howard Bender
Although Hardy has yet to really show up in the home run department, his two long balls over his last 10 games give hope that a power surge could be in store for the second half of the season. However, even if his early struggled continue in the power categories, Hardy is still worth an investment, considering he is hitting .294 through his first 282 at-bats. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Hardy is now 9-for-23 (.391 BA) with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored over his last six games, as he makes a strong effort to bounce back from a very slow start. Despite sitting on a .295 average, Hardy has just one home run and 19 RBI through 251 at-bats, which is a far cry from the three straight 20-plus home runs seasons we have grown accustomed to seeing from him. At this point he will be lucky to reach 10 home runs, which is only going to hurt his fantasy value even more as the season progresses. Analyst: Matthew Beck
