Latest Update Cubs transferred Ryan Sweeney to the 60-day disabled list. Wed Sep, 03, 06:58 PM
Athletic, he has a fluid left-handed swing that drives the ball to all fields for doubles. Is patient at the plate and makes contact. Has a strong arm and good defensive instincts for any outfield position.
Flaws: : Doesn't take full advantage of his above-average athletic tools. Lacks consistency. His home run power seems to still be in the developmental stage. Also, he is somewhat prone to getting hurt.
Sweeney was put on the DL last week when he suffered a hamstring injury and now he is done for the season. This isn't good for the Cubs who need hitters, however it's not like the Cubs were going to win the World Series this year. Just wait until next year Sweeney!Analyst:
Okay, so a bit of a bummer for Sweeney, but fantasy-wise, this should have very little impact. Sweeney should not be on anyone's fantasy team right now, so we can simply move on from here.Analyst: Howard Bender
While the current configuration of Jorge Soler, Arismendy Alcantara and Chris Coghlan is likely the way things should stay, the Cubs would welcome Sweeney given the injury to Justin Ruggiano and the lack of depth. He'll probably be back in the middle of next week.Analyst: Howard Bender
Between the hamstring issue and going 1-for-16 over his last seven games, it seemed like a good time for the Cubs to DL him and clear some playing time for rookie Jorge Soler. Sweeney will be back once eligible.Analyst: Howard Bender
