Latest Update Aaron Hill is not in the Diamondbacks starting lineup on Friday. Fri Aug, 29, 05:47 PM
Has a great approach at the plate, including a compact power swing and a pretty good eye. Can carry an offense for stretches. A doubles machine with very good home-run power, he also plays a smooth second base.
Flaws: : Could be even better with a slightly improved walk/strikeout ratio. Doesn't make great use of his pretty good speed when running the bases. Injuries can be an issue for him, so durability is a concern.
Hill is in the midst of a very mediocre season and has struggled recently, but this appears to be a day of rest. Cliff Pennington will bat second and play second base.Analyst: David Kerr
Hill will sit in favor of Cliff Pennington who has been on an absolute tear since being activated from the DL going 10 for 28(.357) with nine runs, one home run, two RBI and two stolen bases.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Prior to Friday night's long ball, Hill had been struggling in the month of August, hitting .189 with no extra base hits and two RBI. Whether or not he is able to get back on track to end the season is hard to say, but his power production from the second base position is certainly worthy of a starting nod outside of shallow fantasy formats. Hill continued his recent increase in production on Wednesday, having now hit .302 with seven extra-base hits over his last 63 at-bats. Although he is still sitting on a sub-par .251 batting average, Hill's power production ( 9 HR and 51 RBI) is definitely worthy of a roster spot in all but the shallowest of fantasy formats, especially now that he is hitting well in the second half.Analyst: Matthew Beck
