Latest Update Aaron Hill homers in win over Giants Sun Jul, 13, 03:02 AM
Has a great approach at the plate, including a compact power swing and a pretty good eye. Can carry an offense for stretches. A doubles machine with very good home-run power, he also plays a smooth second base.
Flaws: : Could be even better with a slightly improved walk/strikeout ratio. Doesn't make great use of his pretty good speed when running the bases. Injuries can be an issue for him, so durability is a concern.
The home run was Hill's seventh of the season, but his first in over a month (June 11th) giving him just two fence clearing shots in his last 139 at-bats. There is no excuse for a player to have so few home runs when he plays half his games in the homer friendly confines of Chase Field. Unfortunately, you are probably stuck riding it out with Hill as there are no players on the waiver wire with better upside, but it is not to late to try and trade him and seeing as he is coming off a game where he finally went yard you mine as well be aggressive in seeing what you can get for him even if it means you have to package his sorry...in two-for-one deal.Analyst: Michael Pichan
Hill is just 1-for-16 over his last four games, so he'll just get a day off to maybe clear his head. Didi Gregorius will get the start at second on Wednesday.Analyst: Howard Bender
Hill will be replaced by Didi Gregorius in the starting lineup on Friday, although he has hit safely in seven of his last 10 games. Although Hill is hitting only .248 this season, he has managed to show up in the power categories with six home runs and 42 RBI through 315 at-bats. Expect him to be back in the starting lineup on Saturday. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Hill has been very disappointing this season, but maybe, just maybe he is about to breakout after back-to-back multi-hit, multi-RBI games the last two nights where he is a combined 4-for-6 with four RBI, and two runs scored.Analyst: Michael Pichan
