Latest Update Aaron Hill is not in the Diamondbacks' starting lineup Sunday Sun Jul, 27, 11:06 AM
Has a great approach at the plate, including a compact power swing and a pretty good eye. Can carry an offense for stretches. A doubles machine with very good home-run power, he also plays a smooth second base.
Flaws: : Could be even better with a slightly improved walk/strikeout ratio. Doesn't make great use of his pretty good speed when running the bases. Injuries can be an issue for him, so durability is a concern.
With the possibility of trading Hill, the Diamondbacks aren't going to take any chances here. The second baseman will get the day off to rest his hand while Didi Gregorius handles the work Sunday.Analyst: Howard Bender
July has been Hill's best month of the season as he is hitting .288 with two home runs and nine RBI. Overall Hill is hitting .256 with 36 runs, eight home runs, 49 RBI and two stolen bases. An injury would be a serious downer for the Diamondbacks right now as they've been looking to shop Hill who is in the middle of now a 10-game hit streak after going 1-for-3 with two runs scored against the Phillies. An injury would seriously dampen things, even if it's minor. He was replaced by Didi Gregorius and now we'll await word from the team on Hill's condition.Analyst: Howard Bender
At this point in the season the Diamondbacks are going to start to field calls for their under-performing players, although it is unlikely they will ever get back what they want in the open market. After hitting just .251 with eight homer runs up to this point, Hill can still be a solid contributor if put in the right situation, but even if he isn't moved before the end of the month, expect a move to be made before the wavier trade deadline in August.
