Latest Update Manager Buck Showalter may give Delmon Young the start Sunday against David Price. Sun Oct, 05, 08:31 AM
Is a good hitter with great bat speed and power to all fields. Produces runs and can get red-hot with the bat. Pitchers fear his unpredictability at the dish.
Flaws: : Struggles on defense in the outfield, so he is a liability with the glove. Also lacks consistency. Doesn't walk nearly enough and strikes out a bit too much.
Showalter said he was going to take a look at the match-ups and see about getting Young some playing time with the Orioles up 2-0 in the series. While taking a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality is the way you'd like to see things done here, Showalter has already altered his plans/strategy when he changed his mind and went with Bud Norris on the hill instead of Miguel Gonzalez. Careful, Buck. You don't want to out-manager yourself here.Analyst: Howard Bender
Young had a surprisingly good year in limited at bats, and has continued his success in the postseason thus far. He has decent pop and should continue to see at bats, though a majority of them will be off the bench.Analyst: Ben Diamond
With Alejandro De Aza hitting well and Nelson Cruz DHing, there isn't room in the lineup for Young. Analyst: Mark Kaplan
This is something to keep in mind for those of you in daily leagues. Young hasn't appeared in a game since Monday, but there have been no rumblings of injury. He leaves a lot to be desired at the plate, but puts in an occasional solid showing from time to time.Analyst: David Kerr
