Latest Update Nate Schierholtz is not in Cubs starting lineup Fri Jul, 11, 11:55 AM
Is gifted athletically: has speed and size, shows good power at the plate and throws rockets from right field. Hustles in the field and on the bases.
Flaws: : Needs more consistency overall, since he can be too streaky both as a hitter and as a fielder. Is also somewhat injury-prone. Doesn't hit lefties well.
In typical fashion, Schierholtz will sit against a left-hander. Justin Ruggiano will take his spot over in right field with Junior Lake and Chris Coghlan rounding things out. Schierholtz will be available off the bench.Analyst: Howard Bender
Schierholtz enjoyed his three-games at Fenway Park, with two home runs, four RBI and three runs scored in the Cubs sweep of the Red Sox. However, he is hitting just .207 with five home runs and 11 RBI on the season, so continued production will be needed before gaining any lasting fantasy value. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Schierholtz was responsible for the only two runs of the game on Monday night, connecting on his fourth home run of the season. It was nice to see the Cubs struggling outfielder contribute in this way, but until he makes adjustments to his swing and raises his .205 average, he should remain on the waiver wire outside of NL-only leagues. Although Schierholtz hasn't been able to take full advantage of his recent in crease in playing time, Wednesday's performance was a sign that maybe in time he will once again be a fantasy consideration in time. However, until he improves upon his .212 average it is difficult to pick him up off the waiver wire outside of deep NL-only leagues. Analyst: Matthew BeckMore Experts..
