Latest Update Kemp is not in the Dodgers starting lineup on Saturday. Sat Jul, 19, 12:29 PM
A great athlete: has speed, excellent bat speed, a great glove, solid throwing arm and superb batting eye. Produces both as a run-scoring threat and an RBI guy while playing top-tier defense.
Flaws: : Strikes out far too much and can be guilty of being way too aggressive at the dish from time to time. Has had some injury problems in the past that have hindered his overall production over the years.
The Dodgers are going with Scott Van Slyke in center and Carl Crawford in left. Matt Kemp said earlier that he'd be open to a trade if he's not going to be the Dodgers' regular center fielder. There's a good chance, if the deal is right, that the team tries to accommodate him.Analyst: Howard Bender
Kemp recently emphasized his desire to play center field but his apparent poor defense has the Dodgers starting him in Left. Kemp also said he would be open to a trade should the Dodgers decide to pursue one. Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Although he wants to be an everyday centerfielder, the Dodgers feel it is not wise to have him in a position where he is a walking injury risk. If the Dodgers are able to move Andre Ethier before the trade deadline, there is a chance he could end up back in his familiar position, but that is unlikely to happen. As far as fantasy baseball is concerned, it doesn't matter where he plays as he remains healthy enough to be in the starting lineup one way or another. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Just three days after manager Don Mattingly said he was happy with the way Kemp has been playing in left field, he's out of the lineup Sunday to give Carl Crawford a start. Perhaps it's just a simple day of rest, but it's something to monitor when we get back into the swing of things after the All Star break.Analyst: Howard Bender
