Latest Update Gregor Blanco doubles twice, drives in two Thu Jul, 31, 06:08 AM
Has good speed (which he uses well in the field and on the bases) and will take a walk, suggesting he can be a leadoff man. Can also play any outfield position.
Flaws: : Lacks extra-base power, so it's hard to justify playing him on an everyday basis. Also lacks consistency as a general rule when at the plate. Doesn't hit lefties well enough.
Blanco has now hit safely in five-straight games, though these RBI are all that he's kicked in for fantasy owners in 10 games. Sure, there's the occasional run scored, but beyond that, there's not much there. The Giants are hoping to get Angel Pagan back soon, but they're also exploring the trade market because Blanco as a regular just isn't cutting it.Analyst: Howard Bender
After logging just two hits in his previous four starts, Blanco got himself back on track on Thrusday scoring one of the team's two runs against the Cardinals. Although it was nice to see a productive game from the Giants outfielder, a .236 average with no home runs and 15 RBI isn't going to turn heads, even in the deepest of fantasy formats. Although Blanco had a nice game on Wednesday, his fantasy value remains next to nothing considering he has only 44 at-bats on the season. Until he sees regular playing time, there is no reason to keep tabs on this Giants outfielder. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Bochy did not indicate whether he would sit Angel Pagan or Michael Morse yet, but you can expect Blanco to spend an awful lot of time sitting this season. He'll spell Morse and Pagan every so often and should be used primarily as a defensive replacement in left. His fantasy value is pretty minimal without a starting job.Analyst: Howard Bender
