Latest Update McCann is not in the Yankees starting lineup on Wednesday Wed Jul, 30, 04:38 PM
An excellent power hitter from the catching position, he has a great batting eye with the ability to be an RBI machine. Is consistent all-round and calls a good game.
Flaws: : Gets run on far too easily from time to time when his throwing and timing are off. Has dealt with vision issues that have at times caused him problems seeing the ball.
McCann owners have to be bummed that he's getting a day off considering how poorly Colby Lewis has pitched against lefties, but after all the extra work with Mark Teixeira hurt, he needs a breather. Francisco Cervelli will handle the work behind the dish on Wednesday.Analyst: Howard Bender
McCann now has 11 home runs and 44 RBI's on the season. The Yankees' catcher has been playing more first base due to Teixeira's injury, and it's likely that that's been helping him a bit at the plate. He hasn't played up to expectations yet this year, but is hitting .320 in July and offers very good power at the catching position. Analyst: Ben Diamond
McCann has already played eight games at first base for the Yankees which means that he is very close to getting first base eligibility in most standard fantasy leagues. The power has been there for McCann as he has hit 10 home runs in his first season with the Yankees but his average sits at just .239 a mark that is well below his .274 career average. Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Brian McCann hasn't been all that the Yankees wanted when they signed him as a free agent this offseason from the Braves but recently that's changed. Kevin Long's work has really done wonders for McCann and given him confidence in his swing again that he was lacking early in the season. Analyst: Drew Phelps
