Latest Update Jhonny Peralta with 12th homer on Thursday Fri Jul, 04, 06:47 AM
A good fastball hitter, he can drive the ball to the gaps regularly and over the fence too, leading to a lot of RBI. Is versatile with the glove.
Flaws: : Swings too freely, can get into strikeout slumps and doesn't hit for a high average. Can be erratic with the glove (he's better at shortstop than at third base). Lacks speed.
Despite hitting just .214 over his last six games, Peralta has managed to record three extra-base hits (1 HR) and four RBI in that span. He is now sitting on a .241 average with 12 home runs and 38 RBI through 294 at-bats and will continue to be a solid source of power although his batting average has been a real drain up to this point. Having started 27 of 28 games, and with Zack Greinke facing the Cards, whom Peralta has not had a ton of success against in his career, it seems like a good time to give him a day off.Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
Although he is hitting a mere .243 through 268 at-bats, Peralta has been a solid power producer up to this point, now sitting with 11 home runs and 33 RBI in his first year with the Cardinals. As long as you can support his low batting average with a solid surrounding cast, Peralta makes for a nice addition in all fantasy formats if his power can keep up as we inch closer to the halfway point. Peralta was struggling to start the series having just two hits in his first 10 at-bats, but finished on a high note and has now reached base in 42 of his last 51 starts.Analyst: Michael Pichan
