Latest Update Jhonny Peralta went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the Cardinals win over the Rockies on Sunday. Sun Sep, 14, 06:58 PM
A good fastball hitter, he can drive the ball to the gaps regularly and over the fence too, leading to a lot of RBI. Is versatile with the glove. His power is above-average for a middle infielder.
Flaws: : Swings too freely, can get into strikeout slumps and doesn't hit for a high average. Can be erratic with the glove (he's better at shortstop than at third base). Lacks speed and some mobility.
Peralta has recorded a hit in his last three games, but has been in a dry spell since his three-hit outburst on September 7th. Peralta remains one of the best power options at the shortstop position as he has launched 21 on the year to go with 69 RBIs.Analyst: Colby Conway
It looks like from all reports, Peralta looks to be getting just a regular day of rest. The Cardinals will put Pete Kozma into the lineup at shortstop in Peralta's place. Analyst: Drew Phelps
Peralta continues to be one of the better shortstops to own down the stretch, with Sunday's home run giving him his 20th of the season. He is now slashing .268/.342/.459 through 497 at-bats and until he cools off, he is a must-start in all formats while swinging a hot bat. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Peralta is now slashing .264/.341/.453 with 19 home runs and 63 RBI through 488 at-bats, making him one of the better shortstop options in 2014. Unless he takes a turn for the worst down the stretch, he is a must-start in all but the shallowest of leagues as he continues to hit for solid power while not hurting anyone with a poor batting average.
