Latest Update Jhonny Peralta went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a walk in the Cardinals win against the Cubs on Sunday at Busch Stadium. Sun Aug, 31, 07:02 PM
A good fastball hitter, he can drive the ball to the gaps regularly and over the fence too, leading to a lot of RBI. Is versatile with the glove. His power is above-average for a middle infielder.
Flaws: : Swings too freely, can get into strikeout slumps and doesn't hit for a high average. Can be erratic with the glove (he's better at shortstop than at third base). Lacks speed and some mobility.
Peralta has a hit in each of his last eight games, and is enjoying watching his average rise. He has a batting average in the month of August above .320 and has watched his average rise to .268. In a thin shortstop market, Peralta should be started and he is approaching twenty home runs for the year. Analyst: Colby Conway
The veteran shortstop continues to hit and had another great day at the plate on Sunday. Fantasy owners looking for some pop out of the shortstop position should target Peralta.Analyst: Mark Kaplan
Not only has Peralta hit safely in six of his last seven games, but he's also produced RBI in all six of those seven games. In fact, during that span, he is 10-for-28 (.357) with two home runs, 10 RBI and four runs scored. Streaks like this don't happen too often with Peralta, so enjoy the heroics while you can.Analyst: Howard Bender
Peralta has been hot at the plate recently and is proving to be a solid option at shortstop this year. He's hit safely in six of his last seven games and is batting .357 (10-for-28) with two home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored over that span. His 17 home runs on the year have been a huge boost, especially when you think about all that talk in the spring about his not holding onto the job all year.Analyst: Howard Bender
