Latest Update Utley & Howard out of Tuesday's lineup Tue Aug, 26, 02:44 PM
Has a sweet swing. Drives the ball all over the outfield with great power for an infielder. Works hard at his game, especially on defense. Is a leader by example.
Flaws: : Is injury-prone. Defense is the weakest part of his game, though he works hard to improve it. At the plate, he has a few more struggles against southpaws.
Cubs are starting lefty Travis Wood and Utley is hitting just .240 against left handed pitchers this season so it is likely the reason the Phillies are giving him the day off.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Just a routine day off for Utley who had a great game Sunday, but with the early start Monday and lefty Jon Niese on the mound, it's a good time to take off. Andres Blanco will handle the work at second base Monday.Analyst: Howard Bender
See Chutley hit. Hit, Chutley, hit. See Chutley run. Run, Chutley, run. It doesn't happen all too often that you see him post a vintage Chutley performance but when it does, there's nothing more staisfying. Too bad it always makes you think he'll rebound to be the Chutley of old. Appreciate what you get as the time for him being a great fantasy second baseman is running short.Analyst: Howard Bender
Even with the multi-hit game Wednesday, Utley is hitting just .158 (3-for-19) over his first five games this month. Part of that may be a combination of a small sample size combined with a bit of bad luck considering he appears to be seeing the ball fairly well as his three walks to four strikeouts would suggest. If your league's trade deadline has not passed Utley may be a player worth going after, granted it may be a bit more difficult now that each of his three hits in August have come over his past to contests adding in he hit his second home run over his last eight games, but regardless it is worth a try if you need a middle infielder with some upside.Analyst: Michael Pichan
