Latest Update Chase Utley hits eighth home run Thu Jul, 10, 07:07 AM
Has a sweet swing. Drives the ball all over the outfield with great power for an infielder. Works hard at his game, especially on defense. Is a leader by example.
Flaws: : Is injury-prone. Defense is the weakest part of his game, though he works hard to improve it. At the plate, he has a few more struggles against southpaws.
Utley is now 9-for-24 (.375 BA) with two home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored over his last seven games as he continues to have a strong start since the turn of the calendar. He is now slashing .294/.351/.453 with eight home runs and 46 RBI through 340 at-bats and is a must-start in all formats while swinging a hot bat. Analyst: Matthew Beck
Utley has been on a power surge of late, having now logged five RBI over his last seven at-bats, bringing his season total to 45 through 336 at-bats. Although his production has been down after a hot start, he has certainly done enough to warrant a starting spot in all fantasy formats, now slashing .292/.349/.443 as we near the halfway point in what could very well be his last season with the Phillies. Just a routine day off for Utley who is actually stuck in a 7-for-34 (.206) slump over his last nine games. Cesar Hernandez will get the work at the keystone Sunday.Analyst: Howard Bender
Utley has been struggling of late, going 5-for-27 (.185 BA) with no extra-base hits, two RBI and three runs scored over his last seven games. Although he is still sitting on a solid .287 average with six homers and 39 RBI through 321 at-bats, he has now regresses each month in the first half of the season, which is not going to help his value if the Phillies in fact try and move him before the deadline.
