Latest Update AGone with 4th multi-hit game over last five Sun Jul, 27, 01:23 AM
Owns a sweet swing, huge power and a willingness to take walks. Can be clutch when driving in runs. Has very soft hands and is good defensively at first base.
Flaws: : Lacks speed and swings a little too freely at times, which sometimes limits his batting average from reaching top-tier levels. Is also lacking in range at first.
A career .292 hitting coming into the season is was shocking to see Gonzalez batting averaging sitting around .250 for most of the season but it looks as if he has turned the corner as his average continues to climb. Despite the poor average Gonzalez has been productive as he looks to be on pace for his 5th straight 100 RBI season. Gonzalez will face off against the Giants newly acquired starter Jake Peavy on Sunday. In his career Gonzalez is 4 for 11 with two home runs.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Gonzalez has been one of the best hitters since returning from the All-Star break, hitting .421 with three extra-base hits and five RBI while recording a hit in five consecutive games. The Dodgers first baseman is now slashing .259/.321/.442 with 15 home runs and 65 RBI on the season, which puts him on pace to have his best season since 2011, outside of the batting average category, despite an extended slump earlier in the year. Gonzalez had himself a nice game on Monday night and is now riding a four-game hit streak since returning from the All-Star Break. After smacking eight home runs in the month of April, Gonzalez has hit just six long balls since which is not encouraging, but even with a long cold streak he is still ranked third in the National League in RBI with 62 through 367 at-bats. Whether or not his home run stroke resurfaces he should continue to be one of the better run-producers at his position moving forward. Analyst: Matthew Beck
AGon saved his one hit for when it counted most as he drove in his 61st RBI of the season and NL leading 38th on the road. The win earned the Dodgers a tie for first place in the NL West with Giants and clutch hit will hopefully kick start a more consistent second of half for the Dodgers first baseman who is currently hitting just .250 but does have 14 home runs. He finished last season with a .293 average but only 22 home runs, a mark he should obviously surpass this season.Analyst: Michael Pichan
