Latest Update Mark Teixeira does some baseball activities Sun Jul, 27, 11:23 PM
Is a quality switch-hitter and Gold Glove-caliber first baseman. Boasts the ability to hit for both power and contact when he's at his best. Also knows how to take a walk.
Flaws: : Injuries have started to creep into the picture here, as he appears to be in decline. Can be a streaky hitter. Like most switch-hitters, has more power from one side (left).

The Yankees will continue to evaluate Teixeira on a daily basis and make their decision then. They've done everything possible to have him avoid the DL, so it looks like it may have worked. No one can say for sure, but we'll see the lineups Tuesday and find out.Analyst: Howard Bender
So basically everything Girardi said Friday, he said again Saturday. It all comes down to how Teixeira feels Monday morning. Maybe we'll luck out and see him pinch-hit or something Sunday, but don't hold your breath. This has been going on for too long not to think a DL trip is coming.Analyst: Howard Bender
This shouldn't come as a surprise as manager Joe Girardi spoke with the media Friday and reiterated that Teixeira wouldn't be an option until Monday. His back is still problematic and the team is still deciding whether or not he is going to need yet another DL stint. Brian McCann continues to play first base in his absence.Analyst: Howard Bender
