Latest Update Mark Teixeira hits 20th home run Mon Aug, 18, 04:50 AM
Is a quality switch-hitter and Gold Glove-caliber first baseman. Boasts the ability to hit for both power and contact when he's at his best. Also knows how to take a walk.
Flaws: : Injuries have started to creep into the picture here, as he appears to be in decline. Can be a streaky hitter. Like most switch-hitters, has more power from one side (left).
With 20 home runs and 53 RBI, wouldn't it have been great to see what he could have done had he been able to stay healthy at all? The batting average is and will continue to be a bit of a burden, but so long as the power is still coming, there's little about which to complain.Analyst: Howard Bender
Batting practice went just fine so Teixeira will resume his position at first and bat cleanup on Sunday.Analyst: Howard Bender
Teixeira has been day-to-day with stitches in his pinkie, so he's had some difficulty gripping and swinging the bat lately. He tried BP on Saturday but couldn't get through it, so he'll take another run at it Sunday and see if he has more success.Analyst: Howard Bender
This is what we've come to expect from the big man at first base, occasional periods where his various nicks and dings take him out of the lineup, generally not long enough to go DL, but nevertheless immensely frustrating to his owners.Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
