Latest Update Dodgers designated Chone Figgins for assignment. Wed Aug, 06, 05:37 PM
Can switch-hit, walk, steal bases and score runs. Is very versatile defensively, with third base being his best position. Sets the table well.
Flaws: : Strikes out a bit too much and gets caught on the basepaths more than he should. Doesn't have a lot of power, and his overall game is in decline.
With Juan Uribe back at third, Erisbel Arruebarrena ready to return from the DL and both Justin Turner and Miguel Rojas serving very well as back-up infielders, there is simply not further need/use for Figgins. Not that there was much need/use for him before either. He shouldn't have been on anyone's fantasy roster to begin with so this should have zero impact.Analyst: Howard Bender
At this stage in his career, he doesn't offer a lot of production, having hit just .217 in 39 games with the Dodgers this year, and four steals. He has only hit .286 with two steals during the first 19 days of his rehab assignment, and it sounds as though the Dodgers will opt to designate him for assignment rather than add him to the active roster.Analyst: Ivar G. When healthy, Figgins has functioned as a utility guy for the Dodger Blue, playing games at SS, 2B, 3B and LF. Unfortunately, he hasn't done much with the bat. His .640 OPS with no home runs leaves some serious room for want. Analyst: Spencer Silva
