Latest Update Pujols hits 24th homer in winning effort Sat Aug, 30, 06:41 AM
Is every pitcher's nightmare at the plate: incredibly patient, shows pinpoint strike-zone judgment and has a smooth, compact swing with great power. As consistent and unflappable as they come, he also surprises with the odd stolen base. Is also incredibly durable.
Flaws: : Can make his share of mistakes fielding first base and is in decline defensively. Is prone to hitting slumps from time to time. After several years of playing nearly every day, he is starting to slow down a little bit in terms of injury and his dominance against pitchers.
While Pujols has hit safely in six of his last seven games, this was actually his first home run in his last 13. Even his RBI-production has slipped down, with just five in his last nine games. The overall numbers -- 24 HR with a .277/.334/.474 -- remain solid, thhough obviously we are not dealing with the Albert of old. Hopefully this latest home run, kicks him into gear for the stretch run.Analyst: Howard Bender
Pujols and Trout were a two man wrecking crew Tuesday night, going a collective 6-for-8 with two runs scored, three RBI and a walk at the expense of Marlins starter Nate Eovaldi. Analyst: Spencer Silva
Mike Scioscia was also ejected following the ejection of Pujols.Analyst: Jonathan Impemba
Pujols is now slashing .274/.332/.480 with 23 home runs and 76 RBI through 492 at-bats as he continues to find success hitting in the three-hole for the Angels. Although he has just three home runs and 12 RBI in the second half of the season, there is still plenty of time left for Pujols to gain some momentum and finish the regular season in a high note.
