Latest Update Third baseman Juan Uribe served as the Dodgers Mon Sep, 29, 12:42 AM
Has impressive bat speed for an average-sized infielder. In the field, he's smooth with the glove and boasts a powerful arm. Is versatile enough to play anywhere in the infield.
Flaws: : He's far too much of a free swinger, rarely walking and striking out too much. Despite decent speed, he's not much of a threat on the base-paths. Injuries have become a problem, too.
It is difficult to tell if the Dodgers were trying to prepare Uribe for a post-playing career, or if they were simply having fun on the last day of the season. In any event Don Mattingly's job seems secure. Analyst: Steve Pimental
Uribe will sit for Justin Turner, who is batting seventh, on Saturday. Uribe's absence may have to do with the slight side tightness that he;s been dealing with, but there's little reason to worry, as the Dodgers can afford to give their starting third baseman a rest with a playoff spot already clinched. Uribe has been great in September. He is primed to resume his role as the Robert Horry of baseball once the playoffs begin.Analyst: Steve Pimental
Consider Uribe day-to-day. The injury doesn't sound too serious, but with the playoffs looming, the team may want to take it easy on him for the final week.Analyst: Howard Bender
