Latest Update David Ortiz is not in the Red Sox starting lineup Saturday. Sat Sep, 27, 10:23 AM
Is one of the great clutch hitters of his era and an RBI machine. Owns a lethal combination of plate patience and a monster power stroke. Is a born leader.
Flaws: : Has seen his eye and bat speed decline with age. Is a complete non-factor on the basepaths and isn't a great glove at first base. Could stand to cut down on his whiffs.
It was announced that Ortiz wouldn't play for the rest of the season, so it's no surprise that he's out of the lineup once again. Yoenis Cespedes will be the team's DH on Saturday.Analyst: Howard Bender
The Red Sox said that it was unlikely that Ortiz would play another game this season, so with three games left and one absence, they are a third of the way to keeping their promise. Don't expect to see him anymore this season.Analyst: Howard Bender
Boy this Yankees/Red Sox series is fixing up to be pretty crazy this weekend. With no Ortiz or Dustin Pedroia and likely no Derek Jeter, there are simply no faces left from back in the day when this was a killer rivalry. It could very well be the worst three-game series these two teams have ever played against each other.Analyst: Howard Bender
Ortiz is just getting some late-season rest, nothing more. It's a bummer for fantasy owners as he's got three home runs in his last three games, but the club will go with Yoenis Cespedes as the DH on Wednesday.Analyst: Howard Bender
