Latest Update Eugenio Suarez left Tuesday's game with lower back tightness. Tue Jul, 29, 08:31 PM
Is a good defender, complete with excellent instincts and a great throwing arm. With the bat, he excels at getting on base due to plate patience.
Flaws: : Lacks ideal speed for a table-setter, as well as for the shortstop position because he lacks a little range. Also, he doesn't have a lot of power potential.
Suarez has been the Tigers primary shortstop since his promotion hitting .254 with 20 runs, three home runs, 11 RBI and a stolen base. He has slumped during the month of July hitting just .224 and this potential injury will not help. The stolen base was the first of Suarez's career and although he botched a play on defense that could have proven to have been costly he more than made up for it on the offensive end Thursday night. The recently turned 23-year old is now batting .263 with three home runs, seven extra-base hits, 11 RBI, and 20 runs scored.Analyst: Michael Pichan
While there's no reason to get overly-excited about Suarez' game, there's little to complain about either. He's batting .283 with three home runs and 11 RBI over 92 at-bats and he seems to have really entrenched himself as the shortstop the Tigers have so desperately needed since losing Jose Iglesias. He won't hit for much power or dazzle you with any speed, but he should continue to hit for a decent average and kick in what he can for the counting stats.Analyst: Howard Bender
Suarez added to his already impressive resume by belting his third home in his fourth major league start and second in as many games. Tigers GM Dave Domboski was quoted as saying they new the 22-year old shortstop, "had some pop in his bat, but this is surprising." If you are lucky to find Suarez still lingering on waivers in your league pounce on him.Analyst: Michael Pichan
