Latest Update Derek Jeter now 6th all time with 3,431 hits Sat Aug, 09, 03:01 PM
Is ridiculously consistent with the bat. A phenomenal clutch player, he is smooth at short and efficient on the base-paths. His instincts are also first-rate. Has tremendous gap-to-gap power.
Flaws: : Has limited range in the field, which places extra burden on groundball pitchers. Also makes a few too many errors. Is a slow starter. Due to advanced age, he's in decline.
Another nice feather in his cap. It is unlikely that he can catch Number five on the list as he would need another 84 hits over the last weeks of the season to catch Tris Speaker, who accumulated 3515 hits over his career.Analyst: Ivar G. Anderson
Jeter's base hit placed him in a tie for sixth all time on MLB's hit list at 3,430. The future Hall of Famer may be making his farewell tour this season, but he has yet to checkout as a non-fantasy relevant player, alas say a White Sox Paul Konerko, as the Yankees shortstop is hitting a respectable .276 with eight stolen bases (1 CS) on the year.Analyst: Michael Pichan
While he's hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, Jeter is still 40 years old and warrants the day of rest for a day game following an evening affair. Just a routine day off is all. Stephen Drew will hold down the fort at shortstop with Brendan Ryan covering the keystone.Analyst: Howard Bender
This is Jeter's second decent game in a row. In fact,he has hit .297 in his last ten games over 37 at bats. It is good to see the legend having a decent final run this year. Analyst:
