Latest Update Derek Jeter loves facing Rangers pitching Mon Jul, 21, 12:15 PM
Is ridiculously consistent with the bat. A phenomenal clutch player, he is smooth at short and efficient on the base-paths. His instincts are also first-rate. Has tremendous gap-to-gap power.
Flaws: : Has limited range in the field, which places extra burden on groundball pitchers. Also makes a few too many errors. Is a slow starter. Due to advanced age, he's in decline.
Derek Jeter has has some of his best games against the Texas Rangers and he has the stats to back it up. He is now hitting .281 with seven RBI and three steals through 64 July at-bats, which is his highest total of any month, so if he keep it up he has a chance to build on his great numbers against the Rangers before he calls it quits at the end of the season. The multi-hit game was his 27th in 84 games, (28th if you want to be cute a cut the retiring shortstop a break), and his fourth over his last six games raising his season average to .275. Jeter is hitting .346 (9-for-26) over that six game span and is worth owning for his improving success at the plate in addition for what he can contribute in the often ignored runs scored category (33 runs).Analyst: Michael Pichan
In his final All-Star game, Jeter played with class and was treated as royalty. It's been a great ride the "The Captain" and he will leave baseball on his terms. He exited Tuesday's game in the fourth inning while "New York, New York" played--a fitting goodbye for one of the all-time greats.Analyst: David Kerr
