Andrew Benintendi Headshot

Red Sox fear Andrew Benintendi ankle is severe.

He suffered a left knee sprain and some sort of ankle injury in the seventh inning of Wednesday's game against the Rays while trying to dodge a tag at second base. He'll be undergoing an MRI, after which the Red Sox will give an update. This could be a huge loss if he's forced to miss the rest of the season.

Daryl Smith Headshot

Daryl Smith did not practice Wednesday.

No injury has been announced, so it could just be a rest day for the 12 year veteran. He was brought in from Baltimore and will look to provide some leadership to a young linebacking corps.

David Ortiz Headshot

David Ortiz is out of the Red Sox lineup Thursday.

Big Papi will take a seat for a day game against Jake Odorizzi after an 11 inning night game. He's having one of the better years of his career, in his last year, hitting .322/.412/.637 with 30 HR and 100 RBI. He'll be back in the lineup tomorrow against Royals RHP Ian Kennedy.

Nick Martin Headshot

Nick Martin recently underwent ankle surgery from Dr. Robert Anderson in North Carolina. He’s expected to miss the 2016 season.

The ankle injury Martin suffered was initially called a high-ankle sprain, but it's apparent it was a lot more severe, with it likely that there was ligament damage. Martin being out until 2017 leaves a huge hole for the Texans and undrafted sophomore Greg Mancz will try to fill the void.

Devante Bond Headshot

DeVante Bond (hamstring) exited Wednesday's joint practice with the Browns.

He was then seen back on the side of practice with his right hamstring wrapped. The Bucs sixth-round pick will be looking to make an impact on special teams to start his career.

Kenjon Barner Headshot

Kenjon Barner has bee the most impressive non-starter in Eagles camp.

The reports of Barner have been outstanding this offseason. Unfortunately though, their backfield is crowded with Ryan Mathews leading the way, followed by Darren Sproles and rookie Wendell Smallwood. You never know what can happen though, in terms of injury and player ineffectiveness, so keep an eye on Barner.

Stevan Ridley Headshot

Lions released Steven Ridley Thursday.

This one was coming. Ridley played behind Zach Zenner, George Winn and rookie Dwayne Washington. Someone may give him a shot, but Ridley hasn't been productive since a star 2012 season with the Patriots. At 27, Ridley may be nearing the end.

Braxton Miller Headshot

Braxton Miller did not practice Wednesday.

Head coach Bill O'Brian told reporters that Miller's day was a "a little rest day", suggesting he should be available for the Texans third preseason game against the Cardinals. Miller's had a good camp and has been taking reps as the teams starting slot-man. He's someone to keep an eye on to see how they're used.

Kolby Listenbee Headshot

Rex Ryan said Wednesday that Kolby Listenbee (hernia) is not close to returning to practice.

With all the missed practice time, it's almost certain Listenbee will be apart of the practice squad. A burner out of TCU, Listenbee is unlikely to get much time on the Bills roster this season.

Marcus Easley Headshot

Rex Ryan said Wednesday that Marcus Easley (knee) is not close to returning to practice.

He suffered a brutal injury in a Week 16 win last season and is still trying to come back from a dislocated kneecap and broken knee. He remains a long shot to make the roster even if he can get his knee right.
