Carl Landry Headshot

Carl Landry has been waived by the 76ers.

The 32 year-old NBA veteran was stuck in a crowded front-court with the 76ers, so the fact that they cut him does not come as a major surprise. Landry, who has been battling back injuries lately, played in 36 games for the 76ers last season, averaging 9.8 points in 15.8 minutes per game. Landry could certainly sign with another team now that he is a free agent.

Patrick Lewis Headshot

Bills claimed C Patrick Lewis off waivers from Seattle.

Lewis was waived by the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. Lewis started in 9 games last season and was retained as a restricted free agent by the Seahawks this offseason, so it was a surprise to see Seattle let him go. Lewis could compete for playing time on the Bills offensive line as either a Center or a Guard.

John Holland Headshot

Celtics announce they have waived John Holland.

Holland signed on to the Celtics for two years at the very end of the 15/16 campaign, but he always was a long shot to make the roster. Holland has been spending his time in the D-League, last playing for the Canton Charge before being signed by the Celtics. He has never seen any time on the court in the NBA.

Tony Romo Headshot

Cowboys are still deciding whether to place Tony Romo on short-term IR.

Placing Romo on short-term IR would shut him down for at least right weeks while he recovers from a broken bone in his back. Jerry Jones Tuesday remained optimistic that Romo could return in as little as 4-6 weeks, but he is not quite sure at this point. It appears at this point the safe thing to do is just put Romo on short-term IR, but the Cowboys are still weighing their options. While Romo sits, Dak Prescott will open the season as the starter for the Cowboys.

Teddy Bridgewater Headshot

Vikings have officially placed Teddy Bridgewater on the injured reserve list.

No surprise here, as the Vikings announced on Tuesday that Bridgewater would miss the entire 2016 campaign with a torn ACL. Shaun Hill will replace Bridgewater for the time being, unless the Vikings turn outside the organization for another quarterback to compete for the role. Hill last played significant time with the Rams in 2014. That season he played in 9 games, throwing for 1657 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Vikings were always going to be a run-first offense no matter who the quarterback was, so they may be able to get by with Hill under center this season. Despite that, it is very unlikely that he will have any fantasy value this season.

Dallas Keuchel Headshot

Dallas Keuchel will now start either Saturday or Sunday, giving him at least one extra day of rest.

The start this weekend will be Keuchel’s 27th start of the season, so the extra day of rest is likely nothing more than an extra day of rest. Dallas Keuchel has been quite a disappointment this season after winning the Cy Young award in 2015. Keuchel has a 4.55 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and a 144/48 K/BB Ratio over 168 innings and nine wins. August was a much better month for the Astros ace though, as he wrapped up the month with a 3.10 ERAA and 0.97 WHIP.
