Bruce sitting on Monday is more of a testament to his recent struggles than it is his recent injury. Bruce has been simply awful since being brought in by the Mets hitting just .165 with two home runs and 26 strikeouts in 23 games. Curtis Granderson has also had success throughout his career against Marlins starter Jose Fernandez going 4-for-9.
After missing a week of action, Cozart was back in the lineup for three straight games but will rest on Monday. Jose Peraza, who's hitting second and playing shortstop, has been on fire during the month of August hitting .438 with four extra-base hits. That said, Peraza does most his damage at home as the Reds are on the road where he hits just .239.
Browner's career has taken a turn for the worse over the last few years as he's been the most penalized corner in football over the past two seasons. The Seahawks thought they'd be able to get the Browner back they had before he left for New Orleans. This release might be nail in his coffin in regards to his career.
With all the controversy surrounding the 49ers QB, the team still needs to get Kaepernick some reps. The 49ers haven't made a decision on who their starter will be come Week 1 just yet, at least to the public. Internally, the decision might have already been made and they're just getting Kaepernick a few more reps to hope he turns things around.
Wright re-injured his hamstring strain on Monday during practice which will rule him out for the preseason finale. That's a tough place for him to be as he missed pretty much all of camp with a hamstring strain to begin with and now there are other wideouts that are making cases for the final roster spots. Wright is heading into the season is the likely fourth option on the depth chart and possibly fifth, there is no real reason to take him in drafts.
Gardner gets an off day on Monday against Kansas City as Aaron Hicks takes over for him in left field. Gardner is 1-for-9 (.111) against Dillon Gee in his career so he will watch from the bench. He should be back in there on Tuesday.
Turner is getting an off day on Monday in Coors Field against Jon Gray. He has been on a bit of a slump of late going 1-for-17 in the last four games. Rob Segedin is manning the hot corner and batting eighth on Monday. Turner should be back in there on Tuesday to take advantage of the good DFS matchup in the Mile-High City.
