Cole Hamels allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits with six strikeouts over seven innings against the Blue Jays on Friday in Game 2 of the ALDS.

Since coming over from the Phillies, Hamels has been a revelation for the Rangers and a big part of why they came on so hot at the end of the year and now own a 2-0 ALDS lead on the AL’s best offensive club. Hamels turned in a fantastic performance today after settling down following the first couple frames. The lefty will have a huge role coming up for the Rangers, whether toeing the rubber on the road against Toronto in Game 5, or as the starter in Game 1 of the ALCS against the Astros/Royals survivor. Analysis: Zack Carpenter
