Jorge Soler is not in the Cubs starting lineup Wednesday.

As is the case a lot of times when a right-hander is on the mound, Soler will start the game on the bench and Kris Bryant will move to left field. Javier Baez will play third base and bat sixth and Tommy La Stella will move in the two hole and play second base. Pirates starter Juan Nicasio will start and struggles against lefties which makes La Stella an intriguing option in DFS.

Update: Miguel Gonzalez could be in line for some starts as the White Sox's fifth starter after the team released John Danks on Tuesday.

In his only start for the White Sox, Gonzalez allowed five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Blue Jays. Gonzalez struggled in 2015 for the Orioles and after pitching poorly in spring training he was released. The right-hander was effective in the minors in three starts, but doesn’t bring much upside to fantasy owners. Gonzalez can safely be avoided in all formats.

Joe Kelly (shoulder) is set to make a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday.

Kelly landed on the disabled list with a shoulder impingement on April 19 and will make at least two rehab starts before being considered an option again for the Red Sox. The right-hander was brutal in three starts as he pitched to a 9.35 ERA and 2.77 WHIP. Fantasy owners can avoid this situation as there are plenty of better options.

Red Sox will send an evaluator to Tim Lincecum’s showcase.

There will be more than a dozen teams that will show up to watch Lincecum’ showcase later this week. It’s hard to imagine Lincecum signing with a team and not being used as a starter so he has fantasy value. However, there’s no way to know exactly what his value is until his destination is determined.

Brett Wallace went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored against the Rockies on Tuesday.

Wallace has had limited at-bats up to this point in the season, as he is slashing .207/.395/.379 with one home run, five RBI and one run scored through 29 at-bats. Unless his at-bats become more frequent, there is no reason to monitor him as he is nothing more than a bench player at this point in his career.

Matt Kemp went 2-for-4 connecting on his eighth home run of the season against the Rockies on Tuesday.

Kemp has been on a tear of late, as he has now logged three multi-hit games over his last five contests as he is now slashing .301/.318/.612 with eight home runs, 22 RBI and 15 runs scored through 103 at-bats. Although he may no longer be a five-tool player (0 SB) at this point in his career, his power production appears to be back for good, so fantasy owners will want to make sure he is in starting lineups on a regular basis, even if his inflated strikeout rate (20 K) doesn't improve.

Andrew Cashner allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six batters over six innings against the Rockies on Tuesday.

After allowing five runs in his first start of the season, Cashner has really found his groove, as he has now allowed three runs or less in his last five starts. The Padres' hurler is now sitting 202 with a 4.85 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and a 27:13 K:BB rate through 29.2 innings, and will really need to find a way to lower his pitch count in order to pitch deeper into games before being a trustworthy fantasy option. He will look to keep trending in the right direction when he takes on the Mets on Sunday.

Fernando Rodney picked up his sixth save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of strikeouts against the Rockies on Tuesday.

Rodney has gotten off to a solid start in his first season with the Padres, as he has now converted all six of his save chances while having yet to allow an earned run through 10.1 innings. Considering he has now pitched back-to-back days, there is a good chance he will be given the day off on Wednesday, so fantasy owners will want to plan accordingly.
