Michael Bourn Headshot

Bourn has signed a minor league contract with Baltimore, Roch Kubatko of MASN reports.

We will update with the contract details as soon as more information is available. Bourn hit a cool .283/.358/.435 in 24 games with the Orioles down the stretch in 2016. With Baltimore currently planning on starting Hyun-Soo Kim and Seth Smith in the corner outfield spots in 2017, they will be able to use Bourn well as a defensive replacement and fourth outfielder off the bench.

Avisail Garcia Headshot

Garcia lost 14 pounds while dedicating himself to getting in better shape this offseason, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Coming off an unremarkable season in which he slashed .245/.307/.382 and posted a 0.5 WAR, Garcia will be hoping to use his slimmed-down figure to improve his agility on defense and on the bases. The 25-year-old outfielder enters the spring with a good chance of earning a starting spot on a White Sox team that is devoid of much outfield depth.

Johnny Cueto Headshot

Cueto, who is still in the Dominican Republic taking care of his ailing father, may not be ready to participate in the World Baseball Classic, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Although there is no doubt Cueto will be ready to start the season, his late start to spring training may hold him back from playing in the World Baseball Classic, which starts March 9th. He is currently working out in the DR, and has thrown live bullpen sessions on schedule with the pitchers actually at camp for the Giants, but he still hasn't had time to prepare under the supervision of pitching coach Dave Righetti, which worries San Francisco. The two are trying to work things out currently, but if Cueto doesn't report to camp shortly, it may not be surprising to see him held out of the WBC.

Tommy Wingels Headshot

Wingels (undisclosed) has joined the team for its upcoming four-game road trip beginning Tuesday in New Jersey, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

Wingels exited Sunday's game against the Devils early due to the injury, but his presence on the road trip at least provides a positive outlook moving forward. The team should update his status again on Tuesday, providing a bit more clarity on his availability moving forward. If he and one or more of the trio of injured players in Sunday's contest end up skipping the affair, it could force Ottawa to make some roster moves ahead of Tuesday's game.

Tyrell Jenkins Headshot

Jenkins (elbow) will compete for one of the Padres' final two starter spots, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Jenkins went on a carousel of getting DFA'd and claimed this offseason, but the Padres decided to take a chance on the former top pitching prospect. Manager Andy Green has already told the young pitcher to "go back to being an athlete," inferring that the Braves tried tinkering with his delivery too much. Jenkins will compete for one of the Padres' final spots in the rotation, but he could also make the 25-man roster as a long or middle reliever as well. Even if he makes the club as a starter, he will have to show immediate improvement over last year's 5.88 ERA before fantasy owners would take notice.

Mark Stone Headshot

Stone (head) traveled with the team Monday it embarks on a four-game road trip, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.

It's an encouraging sign for the star forward a day after he took a shot to the head from Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba. There's no guarantee Stone will play Tuesday, but a concussion diagnosis would presumably prevent him from traveling with the squad. Expect another update on his status come Tuesday, providing a bit more clarity on his status moving forward.
