Red Sox option LHP Eduardo Rodriguez to Triple-A Pawtucket.

For a guy who was so effective in his rookie season, calling 2016 a regression is a severe understatement. On the year, Rodriguez has sported a disgusting 8.59 ERA through six games, with an ERA over 10.00 in the first inning alone. Hopefully he works his issues out in the minors, as he is still only 23 years of age and still possesses plenty of talent in his left arm.

Red Sox have recalled up Pat Light from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Light is a pitcher that will be best served out of the bullpen considering his electric 101 MPH fastball and devastating split-finger that plays off of it. He also may be a beverage best served cold considering his name sounds like a low-calorie lager originally brewed in the Antebellum period.

Richard Jefferson would like to play 2 to 3 more seasons.

If his performance in the Finals is any indication, Jefferson is definitely capable of playing for another couple of years, as in many games he was the Cavs third, and at times arguably second best contributor. He will command more than his previously veteran minimum contract that he played under last season, but with the cap increase, Cleveland should be able to give him a two year deal worth a reasonable salary.

Marcus Smart said he's 100 percent healthy for the first time in two years.

The emotional, yet talented, guard should end up being a solid contributor for Boston this upcoming season, regardless if he's asked to come off the bench.

Celtics are one of at least eight teams expected to be chasing Al Horford at start of free agency.

The Al Horford hysteria has gone out of control. He's a declining, veteran, undersized center who has fallen way too in love with the corner three. He no longer can rebound effectively and has seen his shooting percentages decline in each of the last three seasons. Having said that, he's still a solid contributor for a reasonable price, but the fact that he is being treated as a top three free agent in this class is way out of line.

Carmelo Anthony says he's more confident in the direction of the franchise following the Derrick Rose trade.

That is all well and good but that hasn't stopped Carmelo from beginning his recruitment of Kevin Durant. If the Knicks could pull this off, they would have a team that could rival the Cleveland Cavaliers but it would depend on whether Derrick Rose can stay healthy. This whole scenario is very unlikely but this is what you get this time of year, rumors.

Clayton Richard will begin his rehab assignment with the Iowa Cubs Tuesday.

It looks like the blister on his left middle finger has finally cleared up and it's time to take it out for a spin. The Cubs are planning for Richard to be ready to return when his 15 days are up early next month. It has been an ugly start to the season for Richard with a 7.30 ERA and 2.19 WHIP in 22 appearances.

Brad Boxberger (oblique) is scheduled to throw off a mound Thursday.

Boxberger strained his left oblique during his season debut on May 31st. This was following him having core muscle surgery in February which caused his start to the season to be delayed. We have seen him play catch within the last week and slowly seems to be making progress. The goal is for him to return to the team following the All-Star Break.

Cardinals are awaiting the results of tests to the eye of Aledmys Diaz.

Diaz was hit above the right eye by a foul ball in the ninth inning of Monday's game against the Royals, but the Cardinals are holding out hope that he suffer a fracture to his orbital bone. We should have word on Tuesday as to the status of the Cardinals' shortstop.
