Patrick Patterson Headshot

Patterson provided 14 points (5-6 FG, 4-4 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist across 24 minutes during Saturday's 94-86 victory over the Mavericks.

With DeMarre Carroll (back) out, Patterson filled in well, showing out for his best scoring outburst since he collected 15 points Dec. 26 the Trail Blazers. Despite playing 20.8 minutes per game March, Patterson doesn't provide much fantasy value across the board, averaging just 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while knocking down 38.6 percent of his looks over the past 12 outings.

Steven Brault Headshot

Brault limited the Tigers to one run in four innings Saturday, giving up four hits and one walk while striking out three.

He's competing for the team's fifth starter job against the likes of Drew Hutchison, Tyler Glasnow and Trevor Williams. Brault's biggest advantage may be that he's the only lefty among the bunch. His ceiling isn't as high as some of the others, but his floor isn't as low, either. He's compiled a 3.45 ERA in 15.2 innings, but his 1.34 WHIP is a tad high, in part because of a 8:5 K:BB. General manager Neal Huntington is expected to address the fifth starter competition during his Sunday radio show.

Auston Matthews Headshot

Matthews tied the franchise's record for goals scored by a rookie with his 34th goal of the season in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Sabres.

The record was held by Leafs' icon Wendel Clark. Matthews is on a five-game, six-point scoring streak that includes three goals and the same number of assists. He's back on track offensively. Use him well.

Joey Rickard Headshot

Rickard is likely to bat leadoff against left-handed pitchers this season, PressBox.com reports.

Rickard is hitting .349 this spring with three home runs. He looks set to begin the season in a platoon with Hyun Soo Kim in left field. Rickard will get fewer at-bats as the right-handed hitter in the platoon.
11:14 pm (EST)
Jaden Schwartz Headshot

Schwartz scored his 16th goal of the season in Saturday's OT loss to the Flames.

Schwartz recently snapped a 14-game goal drought and now has two in his last three games and a three-game point streak on the go.
11:11 pm (EST)
Hyun-Soo Kim Headshot

Kim is likely to bat leadoff against right-handed pitchers this season, PressBox.com reports.

Kim is hitting .255 this spring (13-for-51) after struggling early in camp. He'll platoon in left field with Joey Rickard.
11:10 pm (EST)
Tyler Glasnow Headshot

Glasnow struck out nine batters in four innings Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk. "Towards the fourth inning was the best I've felt," Glasnow told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "My curveball started to take shape and the changeup and fastball were coming along. Good signs."

He showed a glimpse of the velocity that helped to make him a prospect in the minors, touching 97 mph in the first inning. While Glasnow lacked efficiency (he needed 82 pitches to complete four innings), he carried himself with confidence against a watered-down Detroit lineup. The Bucs haven't decided upon a fifth starter, but general manager Neal Huntington could offer insight during his radio show Sunday.
11:10 pm (EST)
Logan Couture Headshot

Couture was struck in the face by a deflected puck in the second period of Saturday's game against the Predators, Curtis Pashelka of Bay Area News Group reports.

Video of the incident on social media shows Couture appearing to lose at least one tooth. He headed off quickly to the locker room and was not seen again, as Patrick Marleau slid up to center the No. 1 scoring line.
11:07 pm (EST)
Chris Tierney Headshot

Tierney (upper body) did not play in Saturday's game against the Predators due to an upper-body ailment, Curtis Pashelka of Bay Area News Group reports.

The fourth liner just missed time due to an illness, now he is back on the shelf again. When healthy he isn't a high-value option for fantasy owners.
11:04 pm (EST)
Seth Smith Headshot

Smith (hamstring) started in right field and went 2-for-3 in Saturday's spring training win over Minnesota.

Smith had been sidelined for much of the past two weeks dealing with a hamstring injury, but it looks like he'll be ready for Opening Day. mith is expected to handle the larger side of a platoon in right field.
