The calendar is about to turn to February and pitchers and catchers will be reporting within a couple weeks. We will soon get a chance to see several players coming back from serious injuries and get a better sense on how well recovered they are and whether their fantasy baseball value will return to pre-injury status. After profiling Carl Crawford and Victor Martinez, this week’s column will focus on former homerun champion Jose Bautista. Joey Bats was a bona fide top ten pick the past couple years, but a serious wrist injury has cast some doubt as to his capabilities. So without further adieu, here is the third installment of the Walking Wounded for the 2013 fantasy baseball season.
In a season marred with significant injuries to big time players, it is refreshing to report some good news regarding the return of some of these players. If you have been able to tread water and withstand the loss of some of these players in your fantasy league, then getting them back will be equivalent to pulling off a blockbuster trade. So without further adieu, here is the next edition of the walking wounded.
It’s only been a few days since the last Injury Report and already, there’s a full list of players joining the ranks of MLB’s walking wounded. That doesn’t bode well for fantasy owners who are going to have to spend a significant amount of time sifting through the free agents on the waiver wire, looking for quality replacement candidates. Obviously, some players are lost for longer periods of time, but even the most minor of injuries needs to have your attention as you never know when something minor can grow to something major. Bumps, bruises, breaks, sprains, and setbacks, we’ve got ‘em all here. Let’s get to it…
