While everyone is caught up in the details and fallout from the MLB trade deadline, It's important to make sure you stay on top of all the latest injuries and the potential impact on your fantasy baseball lineups. Fortunately, since our last update, the injuries have been mild and the news to report isn't as devastating as it has been in the past. While the impending MLB trade deadline has fantasy owners on the edge of their seats, the injuries continue to pile up, making the end of July one of the more anxiety-filled times of the year. Having players move around from team to team isn’t always the ideal, but atleast they’re still playing. But when your guys go down this late into the season, especially those that have helped carry your team this far, it’s always troubling. Here’s a look at what’s been going on since the last MLB Injury Report…
It’s only been a few days since the last Injury Report and already, there’s a full list of players joining the ranks of MLB’s walking wounded. That doesn’t bode well for fantasy owners who are going to have to spend a significant amount of time sifting through the free agents on the waiver wire, looking for quality replacement candidates. Obviously, some players are lost for longer periods of time, but even the most minor of injuries needs to have your attention as you never know when something minor can grow to something major. Bumps, bruises, breaks, sprains, and setbacks, we’ve got ‘em all here. Let’s get to it…
We’re just a few days into the unofficial second half and already we’re seeing a few dings and dents. You’d like to think that time off for the All Star Break would have given these guys a chance to build up their strength and stamina, but the injury bug is a sneaky, little creature and strikes without warning. Fortunately, this early on, the damage isn’t too severe, but let’s take a look at some of the latest injuries around MLB that are affecting fantasy rosters everywhere.
Personally, I just think that players are getting weaker. Everyday more and more injuries and nagging injuries are coming up across the league and it is getting to the point where before long, I'll have to list each and every major league player on the injury report. What's worse for fantasy leaguers is that one of the few remaining healthy third basemen is now down for the count leaving the thinnest position practically barren. With that, let's go around the league and catch up on who is hurt, who is injured and who is out.
A big name free agent signing has gone down with an injury along with some once proven pitchers battling back from significant injuries. There also seems to be a non-baseball injury taking down a talented outfielder in Seattle. The Braves are hoping one of their best returns to form for an improved line-up. All of these and more discussed on today's injury report.
