Will Christine Michael take time from the Beast?
Running the ball well and playing great defense brought the Seahawks a Super Bowl Championship. They had the best defense in the league, especially against the passing game where the Legion of Boom gave up a miniscule 172 yards per game. On the offensive side of the ball, Russell Wilson was great at being efficient, protecting the ball and managing the game, but let’s face it, he was not a great fantasy quarterback. Marshawn Lynch was a beast rushing for 1257 yards and 12 touchdowns plus adding 36 catches for 316 yards receiving. Percy Harvin missed almost the entire year and is having trouble getting on the field this summer. Jermaine Kearse showed flashes, but with a heavy, run-first offense, it is hard to see any of these weapons being lethal on your fantasy team.
In 2014, fantasy football players should expect more of the same. The biggest question is whether or not the Beast can take the pounding of 300+ carries in two consecutive seasons. The organization and fantasy players have been talking about the talent of Christine Michael with some even comparing him to Adrian Peterson. Lynch also has had some off the field issues. He has found himself in the middle of brawls and has been suggesting that maybe he would just retire. We don’t expect that, but Christine Michael must be drafted if you use your first or second round pick on Lynch.
For your fantasy football team, Lynch is the only player who should get any early attention. Jermaine Kearse or Doug Baldwin can be grabbed VERY late as fliers. Of course the league’s best DST should be the first defense off the board.
