Joe Kelly got rocked on Monday, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits while walking one and failing to record a strikeout over 1.2 innings in the Red Sox 7-2 loss to the Twins.

Kelly had begun to show signs of life over his previous two starts which saw him allowing just three earned runs over 13.1 innings but all that was undone in a massive way on Monday as he turned in his worst performance of his career. The Red Sox have a plethora of young arms in their minor league system which many around Boston are itching to see but it may be rookie Matt Barnes, who tossed three scoreless innings in relief of Kelly, that could get the first shot at the rotation should the Red Sox decide to make a move. Kelly is slated to start this upcoming Saturday in Texas but seeing that the Rangers bats are heating up there is little reason to start Kelly against them. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba
