Miguel Montero is available to play on Friday night.

Montero has been out of the Cubs lineup with a knee injury that he suffered in Wednesday's game against the Cardinals when he was slid into by Brandon Moss. Montero was checked out after the game but there was nothing structurally wrong with his knee. The 32-year-old catcher will be on the bench on Friday, but will be good to play if he's needed.

Bucks plan to make Joakim Noah a substantial offer in free agency.

The Bucks are one of four teams that are rumored to be sizing up a substantial offer for the 31-year-old center who is coming off of shoulder surgery. Noah appeared in just 29 games last year, and he played in just 67 games the year before that. It appears as though Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd has soured on Greg Monroe, but the Bucks will face stiff competition to land Noah as the Wizards have plenty of cap room and the Knicks have Derrick Rose, Carmelo, and the city of New York on their side. The Minnesota Timberwolves are also interested in Noah, and with the young core of players they have, they also probably have a better chance at landing Noah then the Bucks.

Manager Joe Maddon said its "possible" Anthony Rizzo could play Saturday.

Maddon went on to add that Rizzo is feeling better, after not playing in yesterday's game against the Marlins. His back has been bothering him for the last couple of weeks, and hopefully back-to-back days off will allow Rizzo to heal enough where it doesn't bother him as much. The 26-year-old is hitting .277 with 17 home runs, 54 runs batted in, and an OPS of .960 this year. Kris Bryant will be playing first base today and hitting second for the Cubs, who used Willson Contreras at first base with Rizzo out on Thursday.

Darrell Arthur has officially opted out of his contract with the Nuggets.

Arthur appeared in 70 games with the Nuggets last year, starting 14 of them and averaging 7.5 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game. Arthur was scheduled to make a hair under three million dollars this season, but will now be a free agent and pursue a contract elsewhere.

Ben Simmons went from 218 to 238 pounds during pre-draft training process.

Gaining 20 pounds is never an easy feat for an athlete with a smaller frame, and it's encouraging that Simmons was able to pack on some more pounds in an effort to have a more prototypical NBA body. The #1 overall pick will undoubtedly have a lot of pressure on his shoulders this season, but it's a good sign that he already has been working to make sure that he's able to hit the ground running for a young Philadelphia team.

Reds have released RHP Steve Delabar.

After being outrighted to Triple-A a month ago, Delabar has now been released by the Reds organization. The 32-year-old appeared in seven games for Cincinnati this season, allowing six earned runs and surrendering 10 walks in just eight innings pitched.

Robinson Chirinos is not in the Rangers lineup because of sore right wrist.

Chirinos was hit by a pitch against St. Louis on Saturday, which has caused wrist soreness that is still bothering him to the point where he's not playing tonight. The 32-year-old catcher is hitting just .205 this season with four home runs and seven runs batted in. Bobby Wilson will get the start behind the dish tonight and hit ninth for the Rangers when they square off against David Price and the Boston Red Sox.

Dodgers say Hyun-Jin Ryu has a chance to pitch before the All-Star break.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that "it's a possibility" that Ryu pitches before the All-Star break, but that doesn't seem like he's too confident that he'll actually take the mound in the near future. Ryu has yet to pitch for the Dodgers this season, but has appeared in six rehab assignment games to various degrees of success. The 29-year-old has reportedly only been throwing his fastball 82-to-89 miles per hour, so the Dodgers want to see more from him before making the decision to call him up.

Rockies LHP Jake McGee (left knee inflammation) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Friday.

McGee will throw another 20-pitch bullpen session on Sunday, and if everything goes to plan with that he will begin a minor league rehab assignment after that. McGee last pitched on June 10th, and the Rockies will undoubtedly want him back as soon as possible as he converted on 15 out of 18 save opportunities for Colorado this season.

Gerardo Parra (high left ankle sprain) is hitting off a tee prior to Friday's game.

Parra, who has been on the disabled list since June 15th with a high ankle sprain, is now beginning to participate in baseball activities again. He seems to be on track to be back in about two weeks barring any setbacks. Parra hit .263 with five home runs, 27 runs batted in, and an OPS of .698 before his injury.
