The earliest you will see George Springer (wrist) in Houston is Friday.

Springer last played on July 1. Since then the Astros have acquired Carlos Gomez, so Springer should be back in right field upon his return, even though he had been playing center immediately prior to his injury. Presumably Springer's return will lead to some sort of platoon in left between Colby Rasmus and Jake Marisnick, but Preston Tucker could also see time there when he gets his September call up. Analysis: Brett Talley

Astros starter Scott Feldman left Tuesdays game due to discomfort in his right shoulder.

Feldman had been struggling prior to leaving the game walking five before his exit. It's possible the shoulder injury was causing his struggles and not just something that popped up on last pitch before calling for the trainer. Houston has been running a six-man rotation to try and keep the inning totals down for their starters in anticipation of a playoff run. They'll either have to go back to a five-man rotation or bump Vince Velasquez from long relief back into the rotation. Analysis: Brett Talley

Logan Forsythe left the game Tuesday night with left groin tightness. He is day to day.

Forsythe was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs prior to leaving the contest. He's been going well lately hitting .309 with two home runs, two steals and 12 runs in the last 15 days. He was replaced by Tim Beckham, and Beckham would likely see more work at second if Forsythe were to miss time. Analysis: Brett Talley

WR Damian Williams who was cut by the Rams on Monday has cleared waivers.

After spending four years with Tennessee to start his career, Williams only appeared in one game with Miami last year. He couldn't catch on in St. Louis who has a mediocre WR corps at best, so he may have a tough time catching on elsewhere. Analysis: Brett Talley

Denard Span underwent successful surgery on his left hip in New York on Tuesday morning.

Span will be missing the remainder of the season obviously, and can be looked to as one of the biggest reasons the Nationals struggled so mightily this season, as they were missing a true leadoff hitter all year. Analysis: Dom Murtha

Dolphins RB LaMichael James wants to go by the name LaMike from now on.

This almost seems like a joke, like when Dante Whitner wanted to change his last name to Hitner. But if this is what he really wants, then LaMike it is.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Andre Ethier is not in the Dodgers starting lineup on Tuesday.

Justin Ruggiano will instead be starting in left and will bat sixth, while the Dodgers take on Madison Bumgarner and the Giants.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Miguel Gonzalez' MRI showed right shoulder and elbow inflammation.

Gonzalez has the potential to return to the Orioles later this month, but with them pretty close to out of it, it might be too little too late. Going forward you can forget about Gonzalez.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Johnny Giavotella is making "slow progress" with his undisclosed medical issues and may not return this season.

He will not be missed in the fantasy world with his measly three home runs and mediocre .265 average. In his place will likely be Taylor Featherston, playing second and batting ninth on most nights.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock.

Time is running out for Chirinos to be fantasy relevant this season, so expect him to take very few rehab games before getting back out on the Diamond for the Rangers.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Josh Johnson threw a 15-pitch simulated game Tuesday.

It's tough to tell how good a guy is doing from only 15 pitches, but he and the Padres think he's good enough to return soon. Expect him back healthy with the ball club for most of September.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Brandon Crawford is not in the Giants starting lineup on Tuesday.

Crawford on Monday, in his first game back since missing a week of action, was hit by a pitch. Because of this, Bruce Bochy decided to bench him on Tuesday. Expect him back in the lineup on Wednesday against the Dodgers.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Saints placed CB P.J. Williams on season-ending injured reserve with a torn hamstring.

This will be a massive blow for the Saints, as the rookie Williams figured to play a huge role in their defensive rebuilding project this season. In any event, the Saints will have to make due with Brandon Browner and Keenan Lewis as the starting two corners, while losing depth in Williams.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Saints have released Nick Toon.

The emergence of Brandon Coleman has allowed the Saints to move on from Nick Toon, who is not as properly equipped to be a legitimate goal line threat as Coleman is. Without Jimmy Graham in New Orleans, Coleman becomes more of a need for the Saints than Toon.  Analysis: Dom Murtha
