Fantasy Player Updates & News  Last FAWBC Qualifier Today

Earl Watson will not dress tonight for Jazz, but said medical clearance was final hurdle.

Braves recalled Ryan Kelly from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Kelly is the next man up for the Braves bullpen after Jason Frasor was placed on the DL. Though Kelly has only had three appearances with Atlanta he has posted very good numbers across Double and Triple-A this season posting a 0.87 ERA and 40 K's over 41 1/3 innings of relief work. He has no fantasy value as a middle reliever. Analysis: Matt Selz

Braves recalled Joey Terdoslavich from Triple-A Gwinnett.

With Freddie Freeman on the DL, the Braves will turn to Terdoslavich and Chris Johnson to fill in at first in his absence. The switch hitting infielder has left much to be desired at the plate so far through 19 games with Atlanta this season batting only .147 (5-34) with eight strikeouts. He has zero fantasy value given his bad bat tool he is demonstrating. Analysis: Matt Selz

Brett Gardner is not in the Yankees lineup on Tuesday.

Gardner or Ellsbury have been taking seats against lefties recently in order to get Chris Young into the lineup as he is crushing LHP this season. This is the case tonight as Henry Owens, a top prospect for the Red Sox, is making his MLB debut this evening. Chris Young will play left and bat second Tuesday night. Analysis: Matt Selz

John Jaso is not in the Rays lineups on Tuesday.

This appears to be a simple day of rest for the good hitting DH after playing in every game since coming off the DL in the beginning of July. Look for recently called up Richie Shaffer to get the call at DH against the tough Chris Sale. Analysis: Matt Selz

Aaron Sanchez has been suspended three games for throwing at Royals SS Alcides Escobar.

During Sunday's series finale between the Jays and Royals several players were thrown at and the benches cleared, so it's not surprising that someone is being suspended. Sanchez has been in the setup role since coming off the DL and has been solid in that role. He has very little fantasy value as a setup guy behind a seemingly locked in closer. Analysis: Matt Selz

Bruce Ellington has a leg strain that will keep him out of practice Monday.

Ellington is competing for the niners number-3 wideout role after catching only six balls over 13 games last season, his rookie campaign. He missed the off-season program with a leg issue as well but this current muscle strain is in the other leg. Until Ellington can get on the field on a regular basis and prove he can also be productive he is not worth a look in Fantasy. Analysis: Matt Selz

Matt Boyd will start Wednesday for the Tigers.

It's time for the rebuilding Tigers to figure out what they have in the pitchers they received back in the blockbuster David Price deal. Matt Boyd was outstanding for two levels of the Blue Jays farm system this year going 9-2 with a 1.68 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 112 2/3 innings between Double and Triple-A. However he was lambasted in his two starts for Toronto giving up 11 runs and 15 hits in just 6 2/3 innings. Detroit takes on the AL Central leading Royals on Wednesday. Analysis: Matt Selz

Braves announce they have placed 1B Freddie Freeman on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique.

It's fair to say that this has been a disappointing season for the Atlanta slugger as this marks his second trip to the DL this year. Obliques are notoriously tricky injuries to deal with as they can take just two weeks all the way up to several weeks to heal. It will take a little while to see exactly how long Freeman will miss but for now expect Chris Johnson and Joey Terdoslavich to fill in. Analysis: Matt Selz

Carsoin Palmer (knee) will miss Tuesday's practice in order to rest.

Palmer had a couple of different injuries last season with a shoulder issue and in week 10 suffering a torn ACL and so far all reports out of camp are that his arm strength is better than last season and his knee is at 100 percent. Prior to injuring the knee he was having a very good season on pace for 4,300 yards and 29 TD's. Until there is a better feel for exactly how he is performing Palmer should be treated as a backup QB or a very low-end QB1. Analysis: Matt Selz

Michael Schofield left Tuesday's practice with tightness in his back.

It's unclear the extent of the injury so far as he was seen trying to stretch out his back on the sideline at Broncos camp before leaving with a trainer. Schofield served as a backup tackle last season and didn't see any game action so even if he misses games it is unlikely to effect the depth of the Denver o-line. Analysis: Matt Selz
