Fantasy Player Updates & News  Season Long, 3 Stage Fantasy Football Competition

Contrary to all the reports, Mike D'Antoni has not decided if he will coach Lakers on Friday night vs. Suns or Sunday night vs. Rockets.

Blake Annen was waived on Wednesday.

Annen, a former UC Bearcat, will look for practice squad work somewhere. He served in that role for the Bears last year.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Manager Ned Yost says he will ease Alex Gordon back into action playing every other day for now.

Gordon is working his way back from a grade 2 groin strain so he won't be taxed. Kansas City has World Series hopes and can afford to take it slow with Gordon. Paolo Orlando will be the likely beneficiary when Gordon sits.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Ryan Madson will throw a bullpen session on Thursday. Manager Ned Yost hopes he can return to action by this weekend.

Madson finally regained his health and has shown what a valuable arm he can be. He owns a 2.45 ERA and .97 WHIP over 51 1.3 innings for Kansas City. The Royals can afford to take their time with him now that rosters have expanded.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Paul Goldschmidt is not in the Diamondbacks starting lineup on Wednesday.

Goldschmidt's wife is pregnant and expecting any day now, so he likely flew back to Arizona to be there for the birth of his child. Goldschmidt can miss up to three days on paternity leave, but he may be back on Friday after the Dbacks off-day on Thursday. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Al Alburquerque is dealing with soreness in his upper right leg, around his hip.

Alburquerque hasn't pitched since August 24th, but hopes to be available on Wednesday night. He owns a 3.52 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 53 2/3 innings for the Tigers.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Michael Wacha (rest) has been skipped from his start on Wednesday.

Wacha is being skipped to limit his innings. The young ace has asn excellent 15-4 record with a 2.69 ERA and 1.13 WHIP across 157 1/3 innings. Tyler Lyons will start Wednesday in his place. Wacha will make his start next time around the rotation. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Raiders signed DE/LB Lorenzo Alexander.

Alexander has not played a snap since 2014 with the Arizona Cardinals and should provide a little more depth at the position. Analysis: Jerry Colvin

Adam LaRoche is not in the White Sox starting lineup on Wednesday.

With lefty Tommy Milone on the mound LaRoche gets the day off. There is nothing abnormal about this and he should return to the line up tomorrow. Analysis: Jerry Colvin

Adam Eaton is not in the White Sox starting lineup on Wednesday.

Eaton will get a day off and the red hot Trayce Thompson will bat in the five spot in his place. Thompson is batting .429 with four RBI over the last seven days. He also batting .500 with two home runs off of LHP. Could be a nice play tonight on Fanduel. Analysis: Jerry Colvin

Alexei Ramirez is not in the White Sox starting lineup on Wednesday.

Ramirez will get a day off on Wednesday and Tyler Saladino will start at shortstop batting lead-off in his stead. Saldino is only $2,300 on Fanduel and could be a nice punt play.  Analysis: Jerry Colvin

Padres selected the contract of C Rocky Gale from Triple-A El Paso.

In Triple-A Gale batted .307 with one home run over 322 at-bats. With power lacking so severely he will provide no fantasy relevance. Analysis: Jerry Colvin
