FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Confirmed that DeMarcus Cousins will not play Tuesday. He appealed to have suspension reduced to 1 game.

Brayan Pena has caught a handful of Johnny Cueto's bullpen sessions this spring, and went as far as to say Cueto "looked better than last year."

That's a very serious statement, when you consider that Cueto is coming off of an amazing 20-9 season in which he had a 2.25 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, and 242 Ks in 243.2 innings. The thought that Cueto could improve on those numbers is one to be skeptical about, but also one to remember on draft day. Analysis: Brad Costilo

Shane Victorino and rookie Mookie Betts are in the mix for the Red Sox's leadoff slot, and the Red Sox will also take a long look at Rusney Castillo this spring.

Victorino, who is a career .277 hitter with a .341 on-base-percentage, is a solid top-of-the-lineup hitter who has enough speed (60 stolen bases between 2012-2013) to be disruptive when hitting in the lead-off spot. Barring an unexpected setback in spring training, you can expect Victorino to secure the lead-off spot heading into the 2015 season. Analysis: Brad Costilo

Yankees infielder Brendan Ryan has been diagnosed with a mid-back strain, and he is expected to miss about five days of on-field activity.

Ryan is the definition of a fantasy non-entity, with a career stat-line consisting of a .234 batting average, 19 home runs, 67 stolen bases (caught 25 times), and 195 runs batted in over an 832 game MLB career. Injured or not, avoid taking him on draft day. Analysis: Brad Costilo

Ravens have reached a two-year deal with DT Christo Bilukidi.

In his three-year career, Bilukidi has appeared in 22 games and has recorded a total of 16 tackles and one sack. As such, it should come as no surprise to hear that he has no value in any fantasy league (unless you get points for a player having 4 syllables in his last name). Analysis: Brad Costilo

The Bengals released defensive end Robert Geathers.

The Bengals decision to cut Geathers, who only tallied 21 tackles and 1 sack in 16 games during the 2014 season, is no major surprise. As he hasn't produced more than 3.5 Sacks in a season since his 10.5 sack 2006 season, Geathers has no real value in IDP fantasy leagues any more. Analysis: Brad Costilo

Saints need to save some money against the cap this offseason and it looks like they’ll try to do so by having wide receiver Marques Colston take a pay cut.

The veteran Colston has been the focal-point of the Saints passing attack ever since breaking-out with a 70-catch, 1,038-yard, 8-TD rookie season back in 2006. That being said, Colston's production has certainly dipped over the last two seasons, going from an average of 76 catches, 1,056 yards and 8.3 TDs a season from 2006-2012, to an average of 67 catches, 922 yards and 5 TDs over the 2013-2014 seasons.  Analysis: Brad Costilo

Coach Jason Kidd said Micheal Cater-Williams' minutes will gradually increase, but he will not play big minutes yet.

MCW showed what he's capable of in his Rookie-of-the-Year 2013-14 season with the 76ers, but at this point it appears that the Bucks are planning to slowly unleash their talented new point-guard. Until MCW is getting 25+ minutes per game on a consistent basis, you will want to avoid using in in most formats (especially in DFS). Analysis: Brad Costilo

DeMarcus Cousins has officially been ruled out for Friday night's game against the Spurs.

It's certainly better to find out early in the day, that your elite fantasy center will not be available to get you the 23.7 PPG and 12.2 RPG you're accustomed to getting from him. At this point, the Kings don't believe his ankle sprain, nor his left hip contusion, are anything serious, but you'll want to keep an eye on it in the coming days. Analysis: Brad Costilo
