As we play out the final month of the 2011-'12 NBA season, we take a look at each franchise. Who emerged, what went wrong, what lies ahead. A look at post season chances, long term potential and upgrades possible in this summer's NBA draft. We begin in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Charotte was out of the playoff picture by January and the only race Bobcats fans are following is for the top pick in this summer's NBA draft. Charlotte will have plenty of ping pong balls at the lottery, and fortunately their first round pick is top 14 protected, as they traded it to Chicago. Picking atop the second round, virtually gives them two first rounders. If Kentucky freshman power forward Anthony Davis comes out, he is the slam dunk pick. If he doesn't or the Bobcats don't win the lottery, small forward is a major need and UNC's Harrison Barnes might get Tar Heel fans in the seats. Baylor freshman small forward Quincy Jones or Syracuse sophomore center Fab Melo are possible second round targets, depending on who is selected in the first round.
The Good: Byron Mullens is a legitimate scorer and was acquired for next to nothing from Oklahoma City. Draft picks Kemba Walker and Bismack Biyombo are building blocks and populate the hardest positions to find talent, point guard and center.
The Bad: Tyrus Thomas didn't come cheap and may not be the player many thought he would be. Gerald Henderson and Corey Maggette would be great role players on a playoff team, not the primary wing options.
Charlotte has potentially eleven players under contract for next season. Boris Diaw was waived last week, while Michael Jordan exercised the option on Gerald Henderson in January. Center Desagana Diop has a player option which he will certainly exercise. Guard Matt Carroll has an early termination option, with a salary of $3.5 million. Point guard D.J.Augustin has a qualifying offer of $4.3 million as does big man D.J.White at $3 million.
C Byron Mullens, Bismack Biyombo, Desagana Diop
F Tyrus Thomas, Corey Maggette, D.J.White
G Kemba Walker, D.J.Augustin, Gerald Henderson, Reggie Williams, Matt Carroll
The Bobcats have a substantial amount of cap space and also hold $5 million in Traded Player Exceptions from the Shaun Livingston and Gerald Wallace deals.
