Francisco Liriano (L) Headshot

Liriano will make his next start Monday against the Athletics, Arden Zwelling of reports.

The veteran left-hander was originally tabbed for Tuesday's start, but with Aaron Sanchez (finger) landing on the disabled list yet again, Liriano will jump a day to fill the void. Liriano is now set to face off with right-hander Jharel Cotton in the series opener.

Nick Franklin (B) Headshot

Franklin is not in the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.

This marks the second lefty in a row that Franklin will not face, which makes it seem like he and fellow switch-hitter Cliff Pennington are in a full-blown platoon at second base. Although Franklin has the fortune of being on the larger side of the timeshare, his uninspiring batting line on the season makes him a rather unattractive asset in most fantasy formats.
4:39 pm (EST)
Paul Goldschmidt (R) Headshot

Goldschmidt is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Nationals.

Daniel Descalso will take over at first base and Chris Iannetta will bat cleanup with Goldschmidt getting the day off. There's no indication of a possible injury for Goldschmidt, so this is likely just a routine rest day after he racked up eight strikeouts in his last three games. Look for Goldschmidt to draw back in for Sunday's series finale against Stephen Strasburg.
4:38 pm (EST)
Luis Valbuena (L) Headshot

Valbuena is not in the lineup Saturday against the Red Sox.

For the second night in a row, the Red Sox have a left-handed starter taking the hill (David Price). As a result, Valbuena will head to the bench again, allowing C.J. Cron to log another start at first base in his place.
4:37 pm (EST)
Miguel Cabrera (R) Headshot

Cabrera (collarbone) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Twins, Shane Jackson of reports.

Despite the fact that X-rays on Miggy's collarbone came back negative, the Tigers will hold him out another day to ensure they don't aggravate the injury further. Andrew Romine will log a start at first base in his place.
4:32 pm (EST)
Troy Tulowitzki (R) Headshot

Tulowitzki is dealing with groin soreness stemming from his final at-bat in Friday's game, Arden Zwelling of reports.

This explains why he's getting his second day off in three games. Manager John Gibbons said that Tulo will likely miss the rest of the weekend, and if he's not ready to go by Monday, he very well could land on the disabled list due to how short the team's bench already is. Consider him day-to-day for now, but given the shortstop's injury history, it wouldn't be too shocking to see him land on the DL once again. Ryan Goins is taking over for him at shortstop Saturday and would likely do so moving forward if Tulowitzki misses more time.
4:26 pm (EST)
Anthony Banda (L) Headshot

Banda was officially recalled in advance of his start Saturday against the Nationals.

The highly touted Arizona prospect will be thrown into the fire in his major league debut as he'll face one of the best lineups in all of baseball. Even considering the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League that Banda has pitched in this year, his numbers have been underwhelming at best as he notched a 5.08 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP while allowing 11 home runs in 101.0 innings. This could be just a spot start for Banda with Taijuan Walker nearing activation from the paternity list.
4:24 pm (EST)
Ryon Healy (R) Headshot

Healy (head) hit in the batting cage and is available off the bench for Saturday's game, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

With no designated hitter in the National League park, it still is a possibility that he doesn't play the remainder of the weekend, but this is a good sign nonetheless. Matt Chapman and Yonder Alonso would likely fill third and first base if Healy is held out of action once again Sunday, but a pinch hit appearance in either Saturday or Sunday's contest certainly isn't out of the question given his power potential.
