Sonny Gray threw 50 pitches in three simulated innings Tuesday and said he felt great.

This is promising news for owners. Gray owned a 4.50 BB/9 before he hit the DL. Owners can only hope that his early season struggles were injury related.

Dodgers placed Alex Wood on the 15-day disabled list with a left triceps injury.

The move opens up a roster spot that will be filled by the coveted prospect Julio Urias. Urias is one of the top three pitching prospects in the minors and despite a bad first outing, he is worth the pickup.

Alex Meyer underwent an MRI exam that revealed shoulder inflammation. He will get a cortisone shot.

Meyer has not pitched in a game since May 3, and has been able to throw in the bullpen but then suffers shoulder and arm stiffness the following day. He is only exhibiting inflammation, and the hope is that by taking the injection, the pain will be alleviated to allow him to continue to rehab.

Luis Valbuena went 1-for-4 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored in Tuesday’s 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

Following a 25-homer campaign for the Astros in 2015, Valbuena took a while to get going this year. Well, he is going now. The 30-year-old infielder has now hit safely in six of his last seven games, going 9-for-24 with four roundtrippers and seven RBI. Those in A.L. Only formats should have already taken note of Valbuena’s recent surge.

Luke Gregerson picked up a save in Tuesday’s 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks, striking out all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The Astros carried an 8-3 advantage into the ninth innings, but after reliever Scott Feldman ran into some trouble, Gregerson came on to clean up the mess in quick fashion. The 32-year-old closer has now converted 13-of-16 save chances so far hit year while pitching to a 3.28 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 25-to-7 K/BB ratio across 24.2 innings.

George Springer went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer, a double, four RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday’s 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks.

If you were able to get Springer into your daily lineups, he certainly helped you get a leg up on your competition. He has been hot in May, and the move to lead off has been paying big dividends over the past week.

Logan Forsythe (shoulder) hit off a tee again Tuesday.

Word is Forsythe is aiming for a mid-June return to the roster. He will need to face live batting practice before heading out for a minor league rehab assignment, although he does appear to be progressing without any setbacks to this point.

Lance McCullers worked five innings in Tuesday’s 8-5 win over the Diamondbacks, giving up three runs on six hits and four walks while racking up seven strikeouts.

The strikeouts are certainly valuable, and it would be hoped that he will begin to pitch deeper into games. He also needs to get his control in order, as he has walked 16 in in 20 and 2/3 innings since being activated in May.

Patrick Corbin lasted 3.1 innings in Tuesday’s 8-5 loss to the Astros, allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three.

Gotta hope you did not have him in your daily lineups, as that sort of performance will simply kill your team. He has not been pitching deep into games and his next start is against the Cubs, so the prudent move would be to bench him if you own him in a seasonal league.
