Yunel Escobar (knee) is not in the Angels lineup on Monday.

Escobar was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his knee and subsequently will miss his fourth straight game. Escobar had been playing excellent baseball before the injury, hitting in six straight games and eight out of his last nine. Jefry Marte will continue to start at third base in his absence but isn't an option in any fantasy format.

Kevin Durant said he is intrigued at the new look Knicks.

We're not exactly sure how to take the fact he thinks the Knicks team looks very different. They lost their starting center who was on a fantastic contract and added an injury prone point-guard who's only on contract for one more year. The Knicks will be slightly improved but there are other team's Durant should focus his attention on. Don't look for the Knicks to be the team he selects when the decision part two finally occurs.

Pau Gasol has opted out of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent.

This doesn't come as a shock at all as Gasol took a discount to play with the Bulls in the first place when he originally signed with the team two seasons ago. Over his time with Chicago, Gasol averaged 17.6 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He isn't going to come cheap and he's absolutely looking for a team that has championship potential. Gasol is going to be a hot commodity come July 1st.

Brayan Pena (knee) rejoined the Cardinals on Monday but will not be activated prior to their game.

After signing Pena this offseason to help soften Yadier Molina's workload behind the plate, Pena hurt his knee, costing him the first 74 games of the year. Pena is coming back at the perfect time as Molina has appeared in 70 of those 74 games. Pena will play a big role with the team once he's activated.

DJ LeMahieu (knee) is not in Monday's starting lineup.

LeMahieu bruised his knee diving for a single off the bat of Paul Goldschmidt in the sixth inning of Sunday's game and was replaced by Daniel Descalso. Descalso will now get the start at second base on Monday as LeMahieu awaits the results of the MRI and rests the banged up knee. The loss of LeMahieu and his .327 AVG will certainly decrease the efficiency of the lineup as a whole in Colorado.

Trevor Story is not in Monday's starting lineup.

Story was hit by a pitch in Sunday's game and was diagnosed with a bruised finger because of it. So come Monday he is getting the day off to rest the finger. Christhian Adames is getting the start at short stop in his place and batting second as the Blue Jays come to Coors Field.

Update: Steven Matz said he's been told this elbow discomfort is likely something he'll have to deal with the rest of the year. No structural damage though.

Lingering elbow issues is just what the Mets and Matz want to deal with. The good news though is that there is no structural damage, as of now. Missing starts occasionally is hopefully the worst that happens from the the lefty and his owners but nothing is guaranteed.

Steven Matz (elbow) could miss his next start.

The lefty in the Mets foursome of young talent has battled elbow soreness for parts of this season. He was knocked around quite hard in the fifth inning of his last start, surrendering eight hits and six runs in that frame alone. He also failed to strikeout any of the Braves hitters. A start off is all the Mets are hoping that he needs to get his elbow feeling better as another big injury could really cause the Mets some serious pain in the standings. He is not expected to need a DL stint at the moment, though that could change if the healing doesn't go as planned.

Lucas Giolito will make his MLB debut Tuesday.

With Stephen Strasburg heading to the DL, there is an open spot in the rotation for Tuesday's game. Widely considered the best pitching prospect in the game, Giolito will now be called up to fill that spot in the rotation against division rival New York in what could be a pivotal game. He has struggled with his control this season with 34 walks in 71 innings at Double-A Harrisburg, which is high for him normally. A 95-98 fastball, 12-6 curveball and a great change up give him three plus-pitches to work with but that doesn't mean that he will stick in the rotation for a long time. This could just be a two start call-up for him.
