Free-agent 3B Juan Uribe has had discussions about signing with the San Francisco Giants in a utility role, but Uribe’s asking price has been too high.

It is possible that veteran infielder Juan Uribe would provide necessary bench depth for a National League contender due to his positional flexibility and the fact that he can run into a fastball. Uribe spent time in San Francisco in 2009 and 2010 before signing with the Dodgers. With the Giants looking for a veteran presence in the infield, Uribe is a consideration. But his asking price has been high and he would have to sacrifice playing time to be on a contender. In 2015, Uribe played in 119 games with 14 home runs and 43 RBI while slashing .253/.320/.417.  Analysis: Greg Jewett
