Pirated recalled LHP Kyle Lobstein from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Remarkably reliable setup man Tony Watson (paternity) will be away from the team for at least a couple of days, so Lobstein has been called up to fill the void in the Pittsburgh bullpen. Pirates placed Arquimedes Caminero on the 15-day disabled list with a left quad strain.

Caminero suffered a strained quad muscle after working 1.2 innings in Tuesday's rout of the Diamondbacks. Following a solid 2015 season for the Pirates, the big right-hander has largely struggled this year. Rob Scahill has been called up to take Caminero's place in the bullpen.

Gregor Blanco will lead off for the Giants on Wednesday.

The Giants will go with makeshift outfield Wednesday afternoon, as Denard Span has been scratched for an unspecified reason while Hunter Pence and Angel Pagan are tending to injuries. Pagan was placed on the DL earlier this week, so Blanco should see regular playing time for the next couple of weeks at least. James Shields will oppose the Giants. Blanco is 5-for-12 with a triple in his career against the Padres' right-hander.
