His surgery was performed by Dr. Marc Philippon in Vail, Colorado. The 26-year-old will close out his 2016 season with a .218 average over 284 at-bats. With Ahmed done for the year, shortstop duties will be split between Chris Owings and Jean Segura.

The Rockies transferred RHP Scott Oberg from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Stephen Cardullo. Oberg is now officially done for the season with axillary artery thrombosis.
