Michael Brantley Headshot

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley’s shoulder surgery suggest they believe it is quite serious, and that he could in fact miss significant time next season.

Brantley has gone through almost a lost season here in 2016 and now his 2017 season, at least the early portion, might be in jeopardy too. An MVP candidate just a couple of years ago, Brantley's future is cloudy at best.

Patrick Robinson Headshot

Patrick Robinson cleared for full participation in practice Thursday.

After working through the concussion protocol, it certainly appears as if Robinson may indeed rejoin the Colts' secondary on the field in London against the Jaguars on Sunday.

Yasmany Tomas Headshot

Yasmany Tomas was scratched from Thursday's lineup with a stiff neck.

Tomas has battled this nagging back/neck issue for quite some time now. Mitch Haniger will take over in right field.

Jacoby Brissett Headshot

Jacoby Brissett (thumb) participated in Thursday's practice.

Brissett started in Week 3, and might get a chance to do so again in Week 4 if Jimmy Garappolo does not progress enough from his sprained AC joint. Tom Brady will return in Week 5, meaning the Patriots' quarterback situation will then be clear.

Jimmy Garoppolo Headshot

Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) participated in Thursday's practice.

Tom Brady will return for Week 5, so that is when the quarterback situation in New England will be clear. For now, if you have any plans of starting either Garappolo or Jacoby Brissett in fantasy leagues, monitor this scenario right up until Sunday.

Stephen Strasburg Headshot

Stephen Strasburg threw from 90 feet with no reported problems Thursday.

Strasburg hit the DL more than one month ago due to his strained flexor, but this is an encouraging sign at least. The star righty is not expected to pitch at all in the upcoming NLDS, but should the Nationals advance further, he may have a chance to rejoin the staff.

Carlos Santana Headshot

Carlos Santana is out of the Indians lineup Thursday.

Santana will get in some extra rest on Thursday in preparation for the playoffs next week. Jesus Aguilar will start at first base and bat seventh.

Jason Kipnis Headshot

Jason Kipnis is out of the Indians lineup Thursday.

Some if the Indians' regulars will understandably get some extra rest over the next few days in preparation for the playoffs. Kipnis will give way to Michael Martinez at second base.
