Jordan Zimmermann Headshot

Jordan Zimmermann is scheduled to make an injury rehab start with Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

He looked good and healthy in his most recent rehab start where he tossed four scoreless innings (50 pitches). If all goes well on Friday night, Zimmermann can expect to be back with the big league club in early August.

Jorge Lopez Headshot

Jorge Lopez was transferred from Triple-A Colorado Springs to Double-A Biloxi on Tuesday.

The hope was for Lopez to turn his excellent minor league season in 2015 into instant success in the bigs in 2016. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and it is now back to the drawing board for Lopez and the Brewers developmental staff.

Neil Walker Headshot

Neil Walker is not in the starting lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

Walker's bat has been icicles of late, so it makes sense not to drag him through a double-header on Tuesday. He should be available to pinch hit and will likely be starting in Game 2.

Jamaal Charles Headshot

Jamaal Charles’ (knee) workload won’t be limited if he’s healthy and returns to the player he was before his knee injury.

There are two ways to look at this: 1) The Chiefs are telling the truth and they plan on letting Charles carry the load just like Adrian Peterson did a few years ago after he came off of a serious knee injury. 2) This is just preseason confidence, while reality would tell you that this kind of talk just isn't serious. Charles is turning 30 and is joining a backfield that did pretty well without him last season... Ultimately it is likely somewhere in the middle, as Charles is unlikely to get the same amount of touches that he used to, however there is no reason that he cannot perform as a top-five running back once again provided he remains healthy.

Roddy White Headshot

Rodddy White has been in contact with a few teams. He wants to play in 2016.

We heard Roddy White say last month that if he did not sign with a Super Bowl contender, he will retire. He had a terrible time in 2015 under Falcons' OC Kyle Shanahan and does not want to go out on that note. The 11-year veteran has 10,863 career receiving yards and 63 career touchdowns. You should not expect White to get anymore than a minimum deal.

Devin Hester Headshot

Update: Devin Hester has no plans to retire.

This might not be his decision but good on him for keeping the dream alive. He is basically a kick returner at this point and with the new kick-off rules, there is not much opportunity for him to be effective anymore. It could be the end of the NFL road for the 33-year-old. He is still recovering from surgery to repair two broken sesamoid bones in his right big toe back in January. Hester is still not 100 percent healthy and was probably not going to make the team even if he was at this point in his career.

Dion Jordan Headshot

Dion Jordan has no update on the status of his potential reinstatement, head coach Adam Gase said Tuesday.

The former number three overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft has been far from effective on the field. He repeatedly violated the terms of his rookie contract, which means the Dolphins are no longer obligated to pay him any his roster bonuses moving forward. Jordan has applied for reinstatement after being suspended by the NFL for all of the 2015 season. We should get clarification on this situation by the end of the week.

Corey Wootton Headshot

Corey Wootton announces retirement from the NFL.

The 29-year-old Wootton will finish his career on the Lions' injured reserve after tearing his pectoral last preseason. In 2012, Wootten finished the season with seven sacks and two forced fumbles over 16 appearances for the Bears. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 draft by Chicago. He will finish his career with 12 sacks and 87 tackles.
