Jorge Soler Headshot

Jorge Soler will not be going to Yankees in a trade for Aroldis Chapman.

There have been many conflicting reports about who will be involved in the Chapman trade, but it seems as if Soler will be left out. Soler was expected to be a contributor for the Cubs this season after hitting .262 with 10 HR and 42 RBI last season over 404 plate appearances, but he's been for a good portion year because of a hamstring issue. He's struggled in his brief rehab stint, slashing .154/.267.154 with zero home runs and one RBI over 15 plate appearances but should be back with the Cubs relatively soon.

Aldon Smith Headshot

NFL is looking into the possibility that Aldon Smith engaged in behavior that violates protocols for a suspended player.

Smith was suspended in November for one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy and it appears he may be headed for a lengthier suspension or more discipline from the league. Even worse, the Raiders could choose to part ways with him in order to not deal with the drama. When he's played, Smith has been a force on the field, but that's been trumped by multiple off the field issues. We'll have to wait and see if and what the NFL finds.

Zack Greinke Headshot

Zack Greinke (left oblique strain) threw 45 pitches during a bullpen session.

Greinke came away from the session feeling good. It remains unclear what the next step for the righty will be, but it's very possible he'll be headed out on a rehab assignment. He's been out since June 29th, but it appears that Greinke could be back within the next couple of weeks, assuming there are no setbacks, of course.

Mookie Betts Headshot

Mookie Betts (right knee) hopes to return to the Red Sox starting lineup on Monday.

The superstar has been out of lineup for two straight games after leaving Friday's contest with the Twins due to a sore knee. He should be back in the Red Sox lineup Monday, taking his leadoff spot back. He's had a breakout season slashing .307/.345/.534 with a 79 runs, a career-high 20 HR, 63 RBI and 16 steals. He should get close to a 30-30 season and will be a top 3 OF the rest of the way.

Phil Loadholt Headshot

Phil Loadholt is expected to retire pending his meeting with team officials on Monday.

Another NFL player retiring at what seems to be an early age. Loadholt, 30, was in the NFL for seven years, only playing a full six because of a torn Achilles' tendon that would leave him out for all of the 2015 season. Had he remained with the Vikings, he would've been fighting Andre Smith for a starting job at right tackle, who now seems to have won the 'battle'.

Jonathan Lucroy Headshot

The Mets are reportedly unlikely to trade for Jonathan Lucroy. They are prioritizing a reliever before the deadline.

Earlier it was reported the Mets were close to acquiring Lucroy, but it appears that is no longer the case. Lucroy and Travis d'Arnaud would most likely keep similar roles with their new teams, so their fantasy values should be about the same.

Jeff Francoeur Headshot

The Braves are not shopping Jeff Francouer. He is making just $1 million this season, and the Braves value his leadership.

This could simply be a ploy to drive up Francoeur's trade value, but it is not like Atlanta would be missing out a ton by holding onto him. Francouer will be a fifth outfielder no matter where he ends up, giving him little fantasy value regardless.

Welington Castillo Headshot

Welington Castillo went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Reds.

Castillo has been ice cold at the plate over the past few weeks, but he may have gotten back on track Sunday afternoon. The stocky backstop belted his 11th homer of the season and first since July 2nd in the third inning. Castillo is prone to streakiness and power surges, so it is probably time to get him back in fantasy lineups.

Paul Goldschmidt Headshot

Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Reds.

After going just 3-for-20 with no extra-base hits over the last six games, Goldschmidt got back to producing Sunday afternoon. The four-time All-Star cracked his 17th home run of the year in the fifth inning of this victory. Through 96 games this season, Goldschmidt is sporting a strong .914 OPS with 39 extra-base hits, 63 RBI, 58 runs and 13 stolen bases.

Zack Godley Headshot

Zack Godley logged 5.2 innings in Sunday’s 9-8 win over the Reds, giving up five runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out three.

Godley did not exactly pitch well Sunday afternoon, but he last long enough and the Diamondbacks’ lineup saddled him with enough run support in order for him to pick up his third victory of the season. The 26-year-old righty has made three turns in the Arizona rotation this month. However, he has largely struggled to find a groove on the mound, posting a 6.89 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 12-to-6 K/BB ratio across 15.2 innings. Godley is pretty much off the fantasy radar outside of maybe the deepest N.L. Only formats going into Friday’s matchup with the Dodgers.
