Brewers select the contract of INF/OF Jake Elmore from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Elmore was having a good year at Triple-A with a .320/.428/.380 slash line in 57 games with two homers, 19 RBI, 25 runs, and 13 steals. Alex Presley was DFA'd to make room for the career .215 MLB hitter on the 40-man roster. He should function as a multi-positional outfielder on the Brewers bench for the time being.

Cavaliers are exercising their team-option on Jordan McRae.

McRae was signed to a 10-day contract in February and was then signed to a two-year deal based off his performances on the original deal. The option is guaranteed for just under $1 million which is great savings for the Cavs to fill out any remaining roster spots with all of the inflated prices that will be out there this offseason with the new money coming in. McRae still needs a lot of development but he showed flashes of his ability towards the end of the season with 36 points.

Marcell Ozuna has returned to the Marlins starting lineup Tuesday.

He had been out of the lineup for the last few games as he dealt with a wrist issue however that seems to be behind him now. He will play in center field and bat fourth for the Marlins on Tuesday as they open an inter-league series in Detroit.

Jon Jay (forearm) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

This move was a forgone conclusion once the diagnosis of a broken forearm was confirmed. It is retroactive to June 20th, the day after he was originally hit by the pitch, and according to GM A.J. Preller he is set to be reevaluated in three weeks time. San Diego is very much hoping that he will be healthy by then so that he can factor as a trade deadline piece as he was playing a great brand of defense and hitting .296 in 68 games this year.

Nationals option RHP Rafael Martin to Triple-A Syracuse.

Martin was called up on Monday when Stephen Strasburg was placed on the DL and was an extra arm in the bullpen for the series opener against the Mets. Martin didn't get into the game but will head back down to Syracuse as Lucas Giolito comes up for his debut on Tuesday. Martin has been good in relief for the affiliate so he should be back up at some point.

Nationals release RHP Taylor Jordan.

Jordan was still on the 40-man roster for the Nats even though he had undergone a Tommy John surgery in May. That spot is needed for Lucas Giolito to come up and make his MLB debut on Tuesday so a straight out release was warranted with him already at Triple-A. Jordan won't be healthy enough until the middle of next year at least so there was really no danger in make this move.

Nationals select the contract of RHP Lucas Giolito from Double-A Harrisburg.

This is a move that was decided days ago, as the Nats number one prospect looks poised to make his major league debut on Tuesday night against the slumping Mets. He features a high 90's fastball and a breaking ball worthy of a strikeout rate above 26-percent. Add him in all leagues available.

Jon Jay has a broken forearm.

It's a shame for Jay who was in the midst of a really nice season, as his average was hovering around .300 for most of the year. His return timetable is still unclear, but expect him to be out for at least two months – the standard healing time for a broken bone.
