Jameson Taillon is 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP in four starts at Triple-A Indianapolis.

Taillon entered last season as Baseball America's 29th ranked prospect despite Tommy John surgery having kept him off of a mound since the 2013 season. Now healthy Taillon is looking to prove that he still has the upside that made him one of the games top pitching prospects and through four starts at Triple-A he is certainly showing the Pirates he's ready to contribute when needed.

Russell Martin is affected at the plate by his neck ailment, according to manager John Gibbons.

Martin has dealt with stiffness in his neck over the past week. "He's not 100% that's for sure," said Gibbons. "He's gutting it out, really is what he's doing. But you can tell he's favouring it." He is currently not able to play back-to-back games. There is no timetable for this injury.

Leon Hall will meet with the Giants this week.

The Giants have made a concerted effort to bring in as much corner back help as humanly possible this off-season. They started by giving Janoris Jenkins a huge free agent contract, used their 10th pick overall to draft Eli Apple, and not to mention they still have Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on the roster. I guess you can say that a team can never have enough good corners and Hall is considered one of the best slot defenders in the league. He is still currently recovering from surgery to repair a "disc injury" in his back.

Tim Lincecum is looking to be a starter.

Lincecum has made it clear that he wants to be in a starting rotation and the Angels might be the spot for him. There will be a showcase for Tim on Friday for around 20 teams interested. The Angels are one of the teams that will be in attendance. They have all sorts of problems in their rotation from C.J. Wilson, Tyler Skaggs, and Andrew Heaney all being on the disabled list while Matt Shoemaker was sent down to Triple-A after producing a 9.15 ERA over five starts.

Logan Forsythe has excelled in his leadoff role in 2016.

Don't know how many people expected this kind of a start for Forsythe in 2016. He has carried over his 2015 breakout season, batting .337/.418/.593 with four homers, 10 RBI, 14 runs scored and three steals as Tampa's leadoff man.

Browns say every QB on the roster is competing to start.

The Browns may have brought in Robert Griffin III this off-season but that does not mean he will be their Week 1 starter. Hue Jackson has made it perfectly clear all off-season that the Browns starting quarterback job is up for grabs. Josh McCown, Robert Griffin III, Austin Davis, Connor Shaw and rookie Cody Kessler will all have an opportunity at the job.

Update: Devin Mesoraco (shoulder) is weighing his options, including playing through a torn labrum. ‘I’m going to definitely have to get surgery at some point,’ Mesoraco said Monday.

Mesoraco made the decision last season to play through a torn labrum in his hip before eventually undergoing surgery. There is a big risk of further damaging the shoulder by playing. The Reds might force him to go ahead and have the procedure done now. This is such a tough break for a player with so much potential.

Jon Moscot (shoulder) is listed as the probable starter for Tuesday.

We heard last week from the club that he was feeling alright but it did inspire much confidence that he'll be able to start. This has been more of a nagging injury for Moscot which all relates back to scar tissue in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. The Reds have already lost Raisel Iglesias and Anthony DeSclafani to injuries.

Chiefs release veteran linebacker Cameron Gordon.

Here is what we call a draft causality. The Chiefs loaded up in the draft and felt that Gordon was not worth holding up a roster spot. He was signed earlier this off-season for depth at the linebacker position. He is still only 24 years old, he should find another home.

Ryan Braun (undisclosed reasons) is questionable for Tuesday.

Ryan Braun is dealing with "general soreness" and it is uncertain if he will play Tuesday against the Angels. Braun is batting .400 over the last week with two doubles and six RBIs. If Braun is unable to go for today's game, Ramon Flores is the likely candidate to get the start in the Milwaukee outfield.
