Cameron Maybin Headshot

Cameron Maybin left Monday's game with a possible thumb injury.

Maybin was 1-for-2 before exiting the game and until the team reveals more information, he should be considered day-to-day. Maybin is enjoying a fantastic season, so hopefully he isn't out for long.

MyCole Pruitt Headshot

MyCole Pruitt's MRI showed a sprained medial collateral ligament. He will miss two-to-four weeks.

Pruitt seems to have a safe spot on the roster, however his chances of getting regular playing time may decrease the longer he is not healthy. First and foremost for him must be getting back to 100-percent, but his practice reps and special teams contributions will become his most important opportunities shortly after that.

Kenny Stills Headshot

Kenny Stills had his back lock up on him at practice Monday, but the injury is not considered serious.

This could be a case of spasms or just a cramp due to dehydration. In any event, the Dolphins don't believe that it is too serious. Expect him to play in Week 1 without any problem.

Nick Castellanos Headshot

Nick Castellanos (hand) is able to put on a glove but is not catching any balls or gripping a bat yet.

Prior to his early-August injury, Castellanos was having himself a breakout 2016. Word is that he is on pace to return by late-September, however unfortunately that effectively takes him out of the discussion for the fantasy playoffs.

Travis Wear Headshot

Lakers have signed Travis Wear.

Wear is a combo swingman with the ability to knock down open shots. If he makes the team, he at best will serve as one of the last men off the bench. Expect little from him as a fantasy option.

James Jones Headshot

Chargers have released James Jones.

Jones had himself a resurgence of sorts out in Green Bay last season after a down year in Oakland, but he just didn't seem to have it in camp this time around. With the Chargers cutting him on Monday, don't be surprised if the Packers give him a call once again, as he will be a nice alternate any time they lose a wideout.

Jung-Ho Kang Headshot

Jung-Ho Kang will continue working out and getting treatment with Triple-A Indianapolis.

His expected return date is in mid-September, so it would make sense to get him some rehab down there while he still can. However the minor league season will be ending soon, so Kang will likely join the major league roster once again prior to being fully healthy.

Brandon McCarthy Headshot

Brandon McCarthy is scheduled to throw on Tuesday.

McCarthy will be welcomed back to a rotation that is really scraping pieces together in order to make a serious run in the playoffs. If McCarthy can be back in time, he may just be joining the rotation as the Dodgers get back Clayton Kershaw. What a shot in the arm that would be for the division leaders?

Yunel Escobar Headshot

Yunel Escobar (concussion) expects to be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Friday.

With the Angels far out of it, Escobar's return will mean very little in terms of the standings. His .320 average however will be very welcomed back into the lineups of fantasy owners everywhere.

Giancarlo Stanton Headshot

Giancarlo Stanton (gtroin) saw a specialist in New York on Monday and did some light drills after.

With the Marlins in the heat of the Wild Card race, Stanton is doing everything that he can to get back healthy for the playoffs. As of now, reports are still conflicting on whether or not he will be able to accomplish this or not, however news of him doing drills after a doctor's visit is promising. As of now, the overriding belief is that Stanton may be healthy enough to play by the final week of the season, which still may be enough time to help the Marlins sneak into the playoffs. With a little over a month to go in the season, the Marlins are 1.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot.
