Kennys Vargas Headshot

Vargas went 2-for-4 in Friday's loss to Tampa Bay to extended his hitting streak to six games.

Vargas continues to stick in the lineup as he's hitting .474 (9-for-19) during the streak.

Héctor Santiago Headshot

Santiago gave up three runs and a home run over 5.1 innings with six strikeouts and two walks to fall to 4-3 in Friday's loss to Tampa Bay.

After giving up nine runs and 15 hits over 7.2 innings in his last two starts, this outing was an improvement. Santiago has been plagued recently by the the long ball as he's given up five home runs in his last three starts, after allowing just three in his first seven starts.

Craig Kimbrel Headshot

Kimbrel pitched a clean ninth inning on Friday to earn the save in a 3-0 win over Seattle.

His ERA now stands at a microscopic 0.83 on the season, and he continues to mow batters down at a tremendous clip. He remains one of the elite closers in the game and is as reliable as they come when looking for saves in fantasy; he's now 13-for-14 in save chances on the campaign.
12:18 am (EST)
Eduardo Rodríguez Headshot

Rodriguez (4-1) pitched six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and three walks in a 3-0 win over Seattle on Friday. He struck out four.

Rodriguez continues to shut down opposing lineups. In his last seven starts, he's allowed just 11 earned runs over 44 innings pitched. The 24-year-old southpaw's 9.6 K/9 on the season is certainly impressive, and he's showing no signs of slowing up anytime soon. He'll take the mound again on Thursday in a road tilt against Baltimore.

Christopher Tanev Headshot

Tanev will not be traded by the Cancuks despite rumors of the contrary, theScore reports.

Canucks GM Jim Benning originally told The Province that he'll listen to offers for Tanev, but apparently it would take a lot to get him. "Unless it would make sense for our future, I'm not trading Chris," Benning said. "He means so much to our team." Tanev is held in high regard by the big boss -- he's a smart player and adept at moving the puck -- but he generally lacks offensive upside and that figures to keep his ownership low in most fantasy leagues. Since entering the league in 2010-11, he's failed to post more than 20 points in a single campaign.
12:11 am (EST)
Adam Wilk Headshot

Wilk was designated for assignment by the Twins, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports..

Wilk was used in long relief with the Twins giving up three runs in seven innings. If Wilk isn't claimed by another team, he'll likey move to Triple-A Rochester.
12:01 am (EST)
Yovani Gallardo Headshot

Gallardo (2-5) allowed three earned runs on seven hits and six walks through 5.1 innings in Friday's 3-0 loss to Boston. He struck out five.

The walks haunted Gallardo in this contest, raising his pitch count to a gaudy 112 through only 5.1 innings. Control issues have hurt Gallardo all season, as evidenced by his 4.1 BB/9. He remains a matchup streaming option at best. Gallardo will take the mound again on Thursday at home against Colorado.

Dmitry Orlov Headshot

Orlov is said to be discussing a possible contract with CSKA Moscow of the KHL, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports, citing Igor Eronko of Russia's Sport-Express.

It was a breakout campaign for Orlov in 2016-17, as he manufactured a career-high 33 points to complement a shiny rating at plus-30. While the rearguard saw his playing time jump by three and a half minutes compared to the prior campaign, the Capitals acquired defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk shortly ahead of the trade deadline and that created volatility with Orlov's minutes when coach Barry Trotz tinkered with his pairings. If you hold keeper shares in the 25-year-old, wait for more substantiated reports before worrying about the rumored departure to the KHL, though it's worth noting that his hockey career began in that league back in 2007-08, when he was with Novokuznetsk Metallurg.

José Ramírez Headshot

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to Kansas City.

The third baseman has been slumping a bit of late, going one for his last 16 at the plate. His slash line still sits at .265/.333/.464 on the season, and he continues to take a patient approach at the plate. He also shows the occasional pop, as evidenced by his seventh homer of the year. It could be just what he needed to get things going back in the right direction.
Yesterday 11:38 pm (EST)
Mike Moustakas Headshot

Moustakas went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-4 win over Cleveland.

His homer to right center in the fifth inning tied the game for the Royals. Moustakas is now slashing .249/.282/.503 on the season, and has been the victim of some considerable bad luck with a .240 BABIP. His power stroke is working on the campaign, as he now has 12 home runs to go along with 25 RBI.
